My trusty Amiga 1200 seems to have a failing power connector on the motherboard. Moving the power cable ever so slightly will cause it to lose power - it now reached the point where it hardly makes contact and won't turn on.

Took away the joy of my new PowerShark :-(

I disassembled it a couple of months ago to see what I could do. The soldering seems to be solid (no flaky connections visible at the time or mechanical play) so I deduced that the connector internally has either mechanical/loosened fit or chemical/corrosion damage. I still want to try contact cleaner to be sure it isn't some mild corrosion but it seems more likely for it to be mechanically broken.

Any suggestions or experience with this type of problem? My Google-fu turned up old threads elsewhere but no conclusive advice on where to get a replacement connector or any way to repair the original one. Grateful for any information!

Why do you assume it’s the connector on the motherboard? You make mention of your PowerShark. Could that have a bad solder joint?

Because I get the same issue with another PSU, and the it predates my acquisition of the PowerShark (which seems excellent btw). Thanks for the kind suggestion in any case.

I found an old Amibay thread where legendary member rkauer suggests to push one of the motherboard connector pins back in place with a thin projectile. I will try this and report back.
