Hello all
I had a spare hour so I went to try my old Amiga 2000 , I opened up the casing to brush and hoover & brush any dust out , the battery I have been told I need to remove but how do I do this as I was expecting just some wire/pin connectors but the mounting for it looks pretty sturdy so I didn't want to mess and damage something , I have powered it up and it all sounds ok but I am struggling to see how to connect it to a modern TV just to try and see if I can get a boot up screen , I have the modulator the plugs in the back with the Y wire then the old style aerial wire but my memory has failed me of where these connections went , I have been told I can try it on a modern TV with the cables I have but I'd have no sound which is ok just to try it , then there is also the issue of having to find a station and manually tune it in.

You can snip the battery out with careful use of a pair of side snips.

If you use the modulator the y-wire will give you sound if you connect it to the outputs on the 2000 and to the input on the modulator.

Plug the aerial lead in and then tune in your TV to find the correct channel.

If it hasn't got a hard drive fitted you should hear the floppy drive click every second or two and see the boot screen.

Updated: Here is the manual

Hi thanks for the reply I can't remember what the Y wire plugs in to on the modulator, I think the serial plugs in to the top / the end ? then on th side of it which of the two connectors does it plug in ? Then do these go to the two audio ports on the back of the computer? Sorry if I sound dumb it's been 30 years at a guess since it's been used , so does the aerial cable plug on to the side of the modulator in the video out port & the the Y wire plug in the end ? I have found various pictures but on the pictures found I have seen both wires in different places

The 2 ends of the Y-lead plug in to the audio out on the back of the 2000 and the single end goes in to the 520 where it says Audio In.

The RF lead plugs in to the socket marked RF Out and then connects to your TV.

The unit then plugs in to the connector on the back of the 2000 where it says Video.

All of this should be done with the machine off.

Thank you
In modern TVs, the analog RF signal don't work anymore, the synth can only receive digital signals, so if you have a modern tv probably it won't work. But the RF Modulator has also a nice composite video out connector, so if your tv has at least a compatible composite input you can connect your amiga. Also you can use some rgb-to-hdmi connectors like ossc
