Hi.

*** UPDATE September 25th, 2023 ***

I have now resumed this project, which has been delayed due to questions from the producer lost in transit to me. I never got them, and they were busy with other projects.

Status today is that I have commissioned 50 of each floppy drive bracket, that is the flat bracket and the bracket with sides that can also hold a harddrive.

Also comissioned 50 pieces of the entire metal rail that holds the two floppy brackes, rear harddrive bracket and PSU.

HOWEVER - my commissioned main metal rail comes with a single modification; the rail only holds a single floppy drive, to the left, as the entire right part is taken up by a custom cutout for a 92mm fan with mounting holes and clearence for dampening material, blowing air down towards any accelerator card present. Think Noctua fan, silently moving air over your low profile Cyberstorm PPC...

All metal parts are galvanised to look like the original as much as possible, while retaining their resiliance towards rust.

Prices are still to be determined, but sadly substancially more expensive than I initially was led to believe.

50€ would purchase a floppy drive rail, as it looks right now
120€ would purchase the main metal rail for the floppy drive, harddrive, PSU and accelerator fan, again as it looks right now.

Would this make more financial sence to produce in China? Absolutely. Would it also involve much more risk, regarding finish, fit and material durability? NO DOUBT!

These metal parts are produced locally, 20km from my house in Denmark, by highly skilled artisans that otherwise produce parts for expensive Scandinavian design lamps and furniture.

Now - this is *not* a "for sale" thread; I am still waiting for the first prototypes, so assess final fit and suitability. I'll post pictures as soon as the first prototypes arrive.

Use this post / thread to determine whether this is for you, and reply with non-committing interest and/or questions.

Purchasers would as always benefit from my 7-day, no-bullshit warranty. You don't like it, return it! You only pay postage both ways.

Thanks for your interest.

Note: cutout of one of the drawings I’ve received from the supplier inserted below. They’ve done an amazing job of measuring the brackets. I’m so looking forward to holding a prototype in my hands 😊

*** UPDATE END ***

So I’m in process of having 50 replacement FDD mounts / brackets professionally made by a local company specializing in producing metal parts for high-end danish design lamps. Think artichoke lamp at 10.000€ per lamp.

My intention is to supply these at cost, which would be in the 30€ range. Please note that these are 1:1 replicas, and *not* the version with *welded* tabs for mounting inside the A3000D, rather pressed tabs like the original.

Also, I’d like to make the same amount of the HDD bracket. Alas, I have no bracket to supply for measurements.

Are there anyone out there willing to borrow me this bracket?

Once the mounts / brackets have been made, I’ll make a post here for those interested.

Thanks for looking.

This is great! Would you also consider making the main metal bracket that holds everything together? I’m talking about the piece that goes over the motherboard, which then provides the slots for you to slide the HDD and FDDs into? It also provides support for the PSU.

I am desperately on the search for one of those!

I might, but I need to assess interest and costs involved. No sense for me to commit to having 50 pieces made if only you are searching for one. Hope this makes sense.

Absolutely. Thanks for the quick reply!

So which bracket do you need to loan?
- hdd brackat (that goes between PSU and DB
- fdd bracket (flat)
- fdd/hdd bracket (with tabs on side)
If you will not find anybody - pm me.

I have them all now, thanks. Will only replicate the two front, floppy-compatible ones for now; might do the hard drive in the back at another time. Figure there might not be much demand for one any more, and I am paying for all work myself up front.
Thanks for your kind offer 🙏🏽

Very good to hear about some progress... You have a picture of the 2 parts ?

Not yet, they are still working on the parts. As soon as I have the prototypes, I’ll let you know and post pictures.

However, as it seems right now, it might not work beyond the prototype phase, as I gather there is little to no interest.

Maybe it’s just too much money? 🤷🏽‍♂️

I meant a picture of the current A3000 parts so we understand which ones your are re-creating.
Simon (Arymanx) on this forum also have access to very good sheet metal fabrication and his designs are very talented. He already has copied several internal parts for the A3000T and other machines.
For the price of your items? It will depends on the demand and the needs; without much added value, probably the only people interested will be those with a damaged case or with missing parts. Will it be enough fro you to sell all your parts? I have no idea. Ideally the whole metal case would be very much sought after - I have seen at least one very good project aiming at that (on Facebook), but not sure the author will ever complete it...

Hello, showing interest for a floppy drive sled if you ever decide to make more. Kind regards . Gigi
