amiga 3000 motherboard revision 8.9

Hi

I have an amiga 3000 that works fine with the built in 030 cpu but when i use the 040 card and change the jumpers to external it wont boot why?

Any ideas please

Hi Baz, is the 040 Rev 3.1 or higher? There's a few issues with Rev3.0 and the A3k, mine wont boot with the Rev 3.0 in (solid grey screen) but runs like a charm with both my 3.1 and 3.2 in.

It says Static Column Fast-RAM on the big book hardware web site that it can cause the 3000 not to boot which fastram is that?

Only 2 Jumpers are set to EXT, J100 and J104. J102 is set to INT.

Ok, which version Kickstart ROMs are installed? (The old v1.4 ROMs don't support an 040 card).

Next, check J851 (Ramsey CLK speed jumper). You could pull the first bank of Fast RAM (but I doubt it's the problem here).

Also, what is the A3640 clock speed?

its a overclocked a3640 running at 32 mhz
roms 3.1

I'd be trying it with the 3640 at stock first to rule that out.

Thanks guys got it working after changing the crystal to stock on the 3640 card
