Hi,

I'm hoping that some one might be able to clean up and fix up an A4000 that I got today.
the battery has leaked but surprisingly the machine still boots (but the mouse doesn't work right).

If it can be fixed I would also be interested in a re-cap as well.

I've been told that it would be an idea to snip the battery and use lemon juice on it now to help save it. But I'm not sure if that you help or hinder any fix up attempt.

Thanks
Ross.

Good to hear it can be fixed, I got a decent deal on the machine due to the battery issue so I'm happy to pay to get it fixed up.
Its got alot of history (it was used for games master, hackers and Judge Dredd) so I'd like to get it back to a decent working state.

Doing this will certainly stop it getting any worse.

There are several members on here that can fix that up for you.

Hikey, Bebek and one or two others.

+1 for bebek. He rescued my A4000, and it was in quite bad shape :)

Thanks, I've sent Bebek a message and I'm happy with that he has said so far.
now I need him to clean his inbox a bit so I can reply :)

Unfortunately most of the pads and tracks/vias around/under HC174 are gone so RTC is beyond economical repair, also one 166 is half disoonnected so it will be moded to use only one for mouse and joystics (only one is required anyway) - work in progress.
