Amiga 4000 rev C / Rev 2

One of these puppies have landed in my lap. I have seen a lot of Amiga machines over the years, including easily over a 100 A4000s, but i have to this day, never seen one that is labelled Rev C (on a sticker) and Rev 2 on the pcb itself.

Does anyone know anything about these? differences compared to the B/D?

The 3.0 roms are just eproms with a sticker from Commodore on them.

The only thing I can tell you is I think the Rev C is the very last motherboard ever manufactured by Commodore. Anyone please feel free to correct me if I am wrong!

Yes, i know of the other revisions, but this one was new to me .

Rev D is also known as the CR (Cost Reduced) version
Like the C, most notable changes are everything soldered to the board instead of sockets

I also have a Rev 2/C. Not everything is soldered down on mine. Unless the previous owner has played about with it. There is still a CPU socket like the rev B. Unless I have misunderstood your answer.

Possibly the changes to the Rev C was Commodore further cost cutting before they decided to go with the Rev D (CR) where the 030 was soldered on instead of the CPU board.

The C could still be with sockets, then again there is no telling what has happend with the board So many boards have been repaired/upgraded, you can't tell anymore if it's original

I’ve been told rev. 2 was the first production model. And only the buster bodge wire differs from the later rev.B.
(Edit: In mine it’s inside the socket, but perhaps it was outside and the socket added later)

My Rev.2 only has buster and ROM’s socketed.

One of my Rev. B’s has Buster v9 soldered to the motherboard. I assumed rev. B’s with buster sockets had them retrofitted to fit v11.

That was the idea and still today, to fit Buster 11 to it, so every Zorro III card works
