Amiga 4000D & SFX Power supplies.

I am cobbling together an a 4000. Getting close to sorting out the power supply and which route to take.

The motherboard is re-capped, new simm sockets, upgraded gals, rom and buster chip.

1. The original power supply which I am cleaning up, stripped it all down going to re-cap it. The case is not great but will clean up with some graft.

2. I bought a metal SFX adaptor from this forum a while back (Arymanx). I was going to use the amigakit wiring loom/adaptor with it and a decent sfx power supply
with modular connectors.

But I noticed something about an adaptor board that has been mentioned. The design made by Matze? can you buy these pre-built? it has a fuse on it amongst other things.
I will also scoot a message over to Matze about this adaptor board.

Anyone with a 4000, how did you sort yours out power wise?

I have a couple of options cpu wise:

Cyberstorm MK1
Apollo 040
Apollo 060

I just re-capped my original and have no issues running my A3360, ZZ9000 graphics card, freeway USB card and running a CD-ROM and floppy with Gotek as well.

That is good going! I just need to source a cap kit for it, it is a SKYNET branded supply.

I went the other way. SFX adapter tray housing off here and Corsair450SFx using the adapter loom bought off here also. Gives better fitting room for the CD drive etc without having to push cables and connectors up to the standard PSU. The Tray adapter comes with a Berg power strip as well, which is very good for cable management.

I forgot all about Matze's wiring adaptor, going to try and get a few from him!

I recall reading somewhere that the other type of wiring adaptor that you can get, the gauge of the main voltage wires is too thin and can burn up on the older ones (sods law thats the type I have).

This sounds like the adaptor trays I have! all done in metal. I do have some 3d printed ones, but one of them failed and that was not even in proper use I was just testing it with random old parts.
