Hello,

A little over a year ago, I had this brilliant idea: Why not get an Amiga again? ;)

Said and done! But then I stumbled upon the remakes and the fascinating possibility of soldering together my very own Amiga. Not long after, a gleaming white Amiga 500+ board was sitting on my desk, grinning cheekily at me.

As with projects like this, of course, it should have been finished ages ago. But one thing you definitely learn along the way is patience. Now, however, the time has come: after my Amiga 1200 remake saw the light of day, the 500+ has finally followed.

What can I say? Building an Amiga from scratch is just endlessly fun. And no, this certainly won’t be my last one – even though I’ve already built two entirely by hand. That moment when you power it on for the first time and it just works is simply priceless.

And it gets even better: not only is the board in elegant white, but the memory expansion and the keyboard PCB also shine in the same classy color. I even have a matching white PCB ready for the Tank Mouse.
It’s not always easy to find the right parts, but that’s part of the challenge – and the fun. I was really lucky to get chips that look practically brand new, which made me especially happy for this project.

Now, only a few parts are missing: the keyboard and the case. Both have already arrived, and I can’t wait to show them to you in one of my next posts.
The big question remains: should the Amiga 500+ stay a classic, or should I throw in an RGB2HDMI and a Gotek drive? I’m still undecided, but I’ll figure that out soon.

Stay tuned – there’s more to come...
