!! only one available - one sold elsewhere !!
£89.99 each + Shipping (UK=£5, Europe=£15, RoW £25)
+4% Fees on Paypal (or Paypal Friends&Family)
(was: £95)

I have for sale only one unit of these Sony Vaio PCGA-CDRW52 that have been modified to use a DVD Reader/CD Writer combo drive, and are fully compatible with the Amiga 600/1200.

Please watch this video to see (one of) them in action, copying files from a CD, then a 1GB file from a DVD.
(Youtube Video: testing the DVD drive)

Note that right now the PCMCIA driver has issues accessing the second layer on a dual-layer DVD, but if you use it with a single layer DVD it's fine.

I provide:

- the Sony Vaio PCGA-CDRW52
- the original 10V Power Supply
- a bootable floppy disk with the PCMCIA driver (same as Aminet's)
- a Squirrel CD32 "emulator" boot disk (never been able to make it work - but you can try it)

I have only one unit available. Feel free to ask any questions, or request more photos.

Just as an extra piece of information - MakeCD has a habit of not working properly with the writing of discs in the Sony Vaio PCGA-CDRW52. It was reported that Driver/Drive incompatibilities seemed to be the route cause according to the software author.

I use MasterISO which seems to be more compatible with the hardware in my view. However, it would only burn single layer discs in my tests, failed with dual layer DVD's every time.

Good drives though! A worthy addition to anyone's Amiga setup:thumbsup2:

Note that these drives I'm selling, or, rather, THE drive I'm selling (one sold already) they only READ DVDs, but read and write CDs.

And yes, even while reading they cannot reliably read the second layer. I spoke to the PCMCIACD driver author, and he's looking into it.

Cheers!

You mention this is being sold elsewhere. Are you the seller selling these on EBay at a lower price than you are on here by chance?

I'll edit the post.

When adjusting the price of items ALL of the original prices must remain within the thread.

Also you can only include original media - copies are not allowed.
