Hello there!

I'm Javier from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Let me tell you the story of my Amiga..

Maybe it was year 2000. I was in #wackyiso group on EFNET (mirc rulz). I used to chat with a very good friend from NL (nickname r2d2_sw) about retro gaming. He kindly offered to send me an Amiga.
After some weeks i got an A500 (PAL, v5 with A501 expansion) with power brick, RGB cable and 3 floppies, delivered to Buenos Aires! What a gift!!

I couldnt test it in depth, as i only could hook it up with monochrome video..
I got stuck there.. no monitor, no mouse, no joystick, and only 1 floppy (workbench extras worked)..

Fast forward to today.. The quarantine gave me time to refloat the Amiga proyect..

1) RGB modded an old Sony Trinitron CRT TV to accept the Amiga feed. Took me some time, but the result was amazing.. perfect picture on a 21" set.

2) Bought a Gotek drive.. and i finally could load some tests programs.. to find the keyboard was failing (all function keys and all numpad).. The mitsumi membrane looks decent but the trace is cut in 1 spot. I'll try a conductive paint repair, while i wait the Sellmyretro brand new membrane to be delivered.

3) Battery has corroded terminals on A501 board, but board is perfect. Removed Varta and installed CR2032 with resistor and diode. RTC working again.

4) Black plastic part under keyboard shrunk and everything was banana shaped. A precise cut "removed tension" and now the plastic rest flat in the metallic base.

5) Very light retrobright work and RF shield polished. I give it a 9/10 in the look.

6) In the works.. Arduino adapter for a ps/2 mouse and getting a joystick or pad (tested with a Colecovision controller and it worked. It is the only pad i have with a DB9 connector)

Everything goes in slow motion due to quarantine and electronic shops closure.

Offtopic: I lost contact with my old friend "r2d2_sw". Maybe he is still around in this forum as he was an Amiga fan or somebody knows him.
The only data i have is from the shipping label of his gift..
