Hi all,
My name is Chris and I live in Sydney Australia. I am married with no kids. I work as a Project Manager and have always had an interest in computers.
My first real computer was a C64 breadbox (regretfully sold by my mother) given to me on Christmas Day 1983. Many happy hours were spent with this little box of wonders connected to a 1702 in my bedroom. It was supposed to live in our study area, but for some reason it mysteriously kept moving to my room
A few years later, my dad and I fell in love with an Amiga 1000 after seeing it at a computer fair. By the time we were ready to buy, the A500 was released and the decision was easy. My love affair with the Amiga began.
I spent the next 7-8 years of my life living and breathing the A500. I worked for a Commodore retailer as a Store Manager for about 5 years and was even involved with the Opalvision 24-bit graphics board development and testing. I progressed through the ranks and eventually had an A3000 fully loaded with 16Mb of additional ZIP RAM, an Opalvision board and a 100Mb Seagate SCSI drive.
I went to swap parties, regular parties, loved popping in the latest demo and going to computer shows. I was a member of many BBSs and was heavily into the graphic design side of things, including large ray trace scenes and loads of cool Vistapro landscape animations. These were the best times of my life and although I'd love to buy one of everything that Commodore ever made, alas, space (and my wife) prevents that from happening.
Although I moved on (debatable) to a PC, I still believe that Commodore products were way ahead of their time. For me, they represented the true golden age of computing. Back then, it was pure and it was fun. Although I may be here purely to relive my glory days, I really hope that I can contribute to Amibay and maybe even buy an item or two.
Cheers,
Chris
