Amiga mouse not working

I have a 500 here which has no working mouse input, joysticks will work in the same ports though.
I have changed Paula and CIA's for known working ones from another 500 but still not working.
What am I missing?

A mouse needs the +5V line, a joystick does not (unless it has some kind of active autofire circuitry).
So check the +5V pin first, maybe voltage is not present or too low.

I know a really daft question but have you tried the mouse in another Amiga ?

I am using an amiga to ps/2 mouse adaptor and the optical light underneath lights up and have tried the mouse in another 500 and it works well.

and I have tried it with diagROM as well but still nothing​
