About an upgrade to 386 or 486 ... those upgrade kits are pretty rare these days OR more expensive than the asking price here. I use my A2286 with an ISA network card together with etherbridge ( aminet ) . This is a sana driver you can use with Roadshow or any other tcp/ip stack on the Amiga side. It yields about 380kb/s with my 060 .
Further more I have ESS 1868 soundcard in it and an Tseng ET3000 vga board. More interestingly if your Soundcard has an IDE controller you can put an XT-IDE bios on the ethernet board's ROM socket and this will enable you to use the IDE of the soundcard to put a Compact Flash adapter on it. There's also a cdrom driver that can use an CDROM reader connected on the AMiga and you can use them simultaneously ... works pretty good.
I just aquired a memory board for isa so I am going to transplant it in my Micronik A4000 because that one has 5 isa slots.
So all in all it's already pretty cool you can use this setup for a network card for your AMiga.
