Hi all,

Is there anything Amiga related planned for this weekends Play Expo at Manchester? There used to be some Amiga stalls but it seems they have all evaporated.

thanks
Paul

They seem to be less and less

I've always wanted to see an Amibay presence but it seems like a no go

first year I went Amibay had a big area and met Merlin and Johnim and some others, pity it's never been done again... amigakit were also there with a stand that year too (I bought Payback at that show:))

We exhibited at Play Expo a few times in Blackpool and Manchester and it was great meeting our customers in person.

We would be delighted to attend future Play Expo events and represent the Amiga in shows such as these

a failure in communication was the problem this time, i believe we as Amibay will be looking to do the next one

PlayExpo also have displays at tv and film comic cons, there's a big 3 day event in London each July. it'd be good if both dealers such as Amigakit, and Amibay were to take tables there, display customised Amigas etc.

There is also the PlayExpo North of the Border in Glasgow as well, as well as the same comic con in August, where they have a retro section, but it's usually just been NES, SNES etc.

It'd be good if an Amiga presence could be arranged / advertised in advance, I'd certainly plan on attending.

That would be awesome. I've been going to Play for years and since the event organisers changed it just seemed to stop. I wondered if that was for commercial or just because new Play didn't want to represent certain markets.

As a recent returnee to my Amiga's I would love the chance to talk to experts face to face and perhaps buy upgrades. Tried to get WHDLoad running on my 1200 but most games I want to play simply require too much memory under WHD so I would have preferred to discuss my upgrade options in advance.

thanks
Paul

As Amibay, we've done a few over the years. The first two in Blackpool when it was R3Play (2010 and 2011) then the next two in Manchester (2012 and 2013) and probably one in 2014 but I wasn't at that one. I've often wanted to do a North of the Border event (similar to Justin's Cheltenham Geekfest) or get a presence at Play Expo but there just doesn't seem to be the appetite. You never know though, with more retro places opening up (there are two cafe / bars in Glasgow centre now with a third on the way) there may be some traction now :)
