Ahhh the Amstrad CPC 464, a great machine that did surprisingly well against the C64 and the ZX Spectrum. And today it's a day of celebration! Well at least if you had an Amstrad, as the old girl is 30 years today.

Fantastic underrated machine. Yeah it was put together using generic parts, yes it suffered from some horrible ports, but the keyboard was decent, it was nice that you got everything in one (even RGB back when most others were using RF!), a properly coded 464 game has a distinctive look and sound, and overalll it has a great games library. And they're pretty damn reliable too, I've ever hardly had one go bad.

I'm also amazed by the mods and peripherals developed for it. I just wish there was some kind of affordable divide-type CF / SD storage solution for it.

Happy birthday, Alan Michael Sugar Trading Colour Personal Computer Four Six Four! (and your Spanish cousin with the fake RAM)

The CPC 464 was my first home computer and I loved it. Had the colour monitor with mine. Was definitely a very good, underrated, computer with some great games. I still like its version of Gryzor.

CPC 464 owners with working datacorder, go and try the new Breaking Baud demo.
