Some people I know are working on a game originally made in the late 90s. The graphics for this game are available in low-resolution paletted and RGBA formats, but the original vector-based Animo 1.7 files are also available. However, I and the people who are working on this game have been searching on and off for quite some time and cannot find anyone who still has a copy of Animo 1.7. From what I can gather, it has to be one of the following:
* A copy of the software and an emulator good enough to run it - apparently it also requires a hardware dongle to run so the latter is important.
* A copy of the software and an original SGI workstation running NeXTSTEP
* A copy of the Mac OS X private beta of the software the company was developing before it was bought out.
Apparently it has to be Animo 1.7 as later versions can't import the files.
I found someone who used to but no longer has the third one; he probably would have been the best chance of doing this, but sadly no longer has the software. They'd quite like the software to run themselves as rather than just exporting the files as high-resolution rasters they'd like to reverse the vector format (with the help of the software for tweaking and analysing differences), which would also help others in a similar situation (if there are any).
Does anyone have any leads at all (direct knowledge or "friend of a friend" type things) on where any of these three might be found? Thanks a lot for any help!
(Note to mods: I didn't put this in the wanted section because I thought it a little too general for that, as it's asking for any sort of lead. Move it if you want, though.)
