Well today my last quickshot python joystick and was my only one at the moment is dead.

I was playing a game and then it just would not respond to what i needed it to do.

I have had 3 of these now with in a month and they all had different problems.

One i couldnt go up another that the fire button played up and now this one thats total dead.

Tryed it on my Amstrad and nothing so i know it is the joystick. check the switch on the bottom too.

Hoping to get a gx4000 controller with in the nbext few days. Lets hope that will last longer.

Curious... My Pythons have always lasted through years of beating. I've got 6 of em now and I think they are still the best sticks I've ever played with.

I wish i could say the same.

I even bought extender cables so i dont mess up the ports on the computer :(

Get zip sticks, competition pro or the arcade. pretty bomb proof.

Back in the day I had quickshot 2, was a great stick while it lasted, but even though my father bought two for me and my brother, we soon needed new ones.

Got competition pro and well. those lasted for the entire c64 lifespan. when i got my amiga i got zip sticks for it (the c64 was still in use by my brother and i went off to school with my miggy) and that lasted its lifespan. i also have tried some the arcade and they seem to be of the same quality. i do have a couple of quickshots now and they are equally terrible.

the majority voited the quickshot python the crappiest joystick ever. ;) well, not only me who think quickshots were that bad.

i am more of a joypad person to be honest and failing that i rather using keys.

I noticed when if I use a megadrive joypad some of the keys on the keybaord wont work at all.

My Wicos are the only ones that stood the test of time, fairly well at least.
Yeah and the TAC-2, it's the newer model but works fine.

PS. I too have a broken Python, I'm not the original owner though, just got it in a bunch of mixed joysticks when I got my C64 gear back after many years.

Well it is only a joystick, hardly a rocket science. If it is completely dead it most likely means that ground cable is broken. New cable and it will be like new

What bebek said. I've never had a microswitch die on my joysticks that are equipped with ones.
Switch Joy, Competition Pro and TAC-2 are pretty reputable sticks.

I'd like you to point out the microswitches in the tac 2 for me :P

Sorry I have not updated this but I did manage to fix it.

I opened it up and had a gruesome find in the control section.

All I am going to say is that I found a nest of pubic hair an dafter all the barfing done i go the hoover and cleaned it all up.

All working now and its with the c64 i am selling.

Only joystick I own is one of these babies!

Oh, and reflexes, what are they???

The Python Joystick is repairable. It has a switch that extend its compatibility through different Home Computers: this may cause troubles, altogether with the fact that there is consumption on +5V which can be removing without affecting the Joystick functionality.

Well, let me know if you want them to be repaired.. Or if you intend to trash them ;-)

Cheers,
Oge
