Hi all,

I recently "downgraded" my A3000 to KS1.4 and I've really fallen in love with the machine. It's truly an incredible computer, and so fun to use. However I do find myself missing some horsepower. Like when playing maxis games in hires-mode or emulating mac. I understand that anything above an 030 is out of the question (since it would break compatibility with KS1.4), but I assume that an 030 accelerator would still work with KS1.4.

I know there is the Blizzard 4030 which runs at 50mhz, and that would have been perfect, but it's hard to find and unreasonably expensive. I'm wondering if anyone who has their ear to the ground knows of any upcoming 030 accelerators which work with the A3000? Or if anyone is planning/designing such an accelerator?

I know of TK's 040 board, and a couple of 060 boards, but the 030 seems (understandably) to be not very interesting to the A3000/A4000-owning crowd. Sad for us 1.4-users. :/

Perhaps something like a Buffee-adapter for the A3000/4000 is the most likely way to get a fast (too fast?) KS1.4 experience?

Hi, well you could buy one of the A3630 blanc pcb's off me and populate it with a 68030FE33B CPU's? That will give a speed increase?

Overclocking the A3630 isn't as simple as using a faster CPU, is it? It seems to me that overclocking the A3630 would overclock the motherboard, and I would have to change delay timings. Stability issues and overheating are not unlikely problems, it seems. I would prefer to not take any risks, at least if it was for such a modest increase in performance as 33mhz. If someone managed to make an a-synchronous version of the A3630 I would be all over that thing!

The same guys who brought us the Warp 1260 and Warp 560 are developing a Warp 4060 accelerator for A3/4000 machines.

There are a few bits of information about it floating around, however CS-Lab website simply says it's 'under development'

Thanks, but those would break compatability with kickstart 1.4, which for me is one of the truly awesome things about the A3000. As far as I understand only 030 CPU's are compatible.
