Features:

  • 450 MHz PowerPC G4 7410 processor
  • with AltiVec instruction set
  • with 1 MB L2 Cache
  • 515 MIPS and 400 MPLOPS perpormance based on Syspeed measurements (according to my calculations min. 550 MIPS) almost 910 BogoMIPS
  • 256 Mb 100 MHz ECC DRAM for PPC side (this is enough for most of the PPC games)
  • you can use as fast RAM in the 68k system too
  • not a beginner card, but not not complicated (in A4000 tower need a little warmup time, not sensitive PCI slot-sequence)
  • Abaco Ramix PMC239/F PCI carrier is included for use (used, but in very good condition) /operation is not guaranteed with other type of carrier cards/
  • supports both 3.3V and 5V Mediator
  • it is the best value for money in performance
  • brand new, unused (only 1-2 hour test, before sending)
You need an Amiga3000 or 4000, a Mediator PCI board, a PCI carrier card or Prometheus PCI Zorro III bridge with FireStorm upgrade (17.14), 68040 or better processor, and sonnet library to use a real fast PPC processor on your classic Amiga!

Price: €750 + shipping + (PP + VAT)
Without Abaco Ramix PMC239/F €350 + shipping + (PP + VAT)

There is no Abaco Ramix without PPC card, don't even ask!

Thanks to Dennis Boon for added new supported cards to the Sonnet project!

Will this work in an Amiga A1200 with a mediator 1200tx PCI board

Unfortunately not. :-(
Development of the driver for Amiga 1200 is suspended. Maybe with the older sonnet.library without Warp 3D support, Bigfoot Killer K1 and M1 can be used in partially.

There was a reason I typed this line:

"You need an Amiga3000 or 4000, a Mediator PCI board, a PCI carrier card or Prometheus PCI Zorro III bridge with FireStorm upgrade (17.14), 68040 or better processor, and sonnet library to use a real fast PPC processor on your classic Amiga! "

Do you know why it will not work in an A1200T with a mediator PCI board, I have an 060 processor, what makes it different to the A4000?

Yes I now approximately. Because A1200 have only Zorro2 BUS, and it have limits. (It can see memory at 8 Mb slices) A3000 and 4000 have Zorro3 BUS, that can see bigger, I rememeber 128 Mb or 512 Mb.
Mainly paging the PPC memory is a problem, if someone could solve this, all sonnet cards would work on the Amiga 1200 as well.

Do I remember correctly that Fitzsteve managed to run Quake with Sonnet PPC on an A1200?

Yes its pretty much all that will work and only with AHI sound, as soon as you touch a custom chip it will crash, so no Paula, etc. The apocalypse could have worked if the memory wasn't limited to 64mb on the A1200 workaround but the developer wasn't going to rewrite it for partial support as it's never going to work properly in an A1200

Fitzsteve, you are great!
