Hey guys, I'm not sure how many people here are registered Apple Developers, but could anyone shed any light on when the site may be back up?

I was given an invite by my uni to become a registered Apple developer, but I have been trying to activate it for a few weeks now and keep getting messages saying that the website is down.

Apparently they have been hacked or there has been some sort of security breach???

Apple hacked or having a security issue? Surely not! Apple said their systems and OSs were immune to such things. Have their lied to their sheep? ;)

Lol, certainly looks that way. For the record I'm not naive enough to believe such claims, anything that can be programmed can be broken  I wasn't expecting it though!

They are keeping it quiet if it is true. If it was common knowledge they would be the brunt of many PC magazine/site reports.

It's just got that now but last week there was a message about someone having breached security and the whole line about "while we are sure your information is safe, we have closed down services to make improvements..." etc.

Wish I had screenshot it now.

Uh, no? They confirmed the issue to all registered iOS developers. And it HAS been all over tech news sites. To name a few..

@AmiNeo: Is there anything specific you need? Provisioning Profiles etc. seems to be up now.

Hi Velourfog, I just got the invite from our uni and wanted to get the account set up. I was planning on looking around at the resources. Nothing specific, I just need to introduce myself to Objective-C and be registered before September and was wanting to make an early start ;)

Every registered developer got this, I'm quite sure this is NOT how you keep quiet...

Apple Developer Website Update

Last Thursday, an intruder attempted to secure personal information of our registered developers from our developer website. Sensitive personal information was encrypted and cannot be accessed, however, we have not been able to rule out the possibility that some developers’ names, mailing addresses, and/or email addresses may have been accessed. In the spirit of transparency, we want to inform you of the issue. We took the site down immediately on Thursday and have been working around the clock since then.

In order to prevent a security threat like this from happening again, we’re completely overhauling our developer systems, updating our server software, and rebuilding our entire database. We apologize for the significant inconvenience that our downtime has caused you and we expect to have the developer website up again soon.

That is more or less the message I got initially.

Looks like they have a lot of work on their hands!

It is strange that this didn't filter down to more mainstream news reports. I hadn't heard about it until this thread, and I read most (non Apple) daily tech sites and magazines.
