Hi there.

As an Amiga user, i never liked the Atari ST at the time around 1990, but i always respected the Falcon which was better than the stock A1200 at launch in late 1992/1993.
That's why i bought one about 10 years ago, but i have never used it so far except for a few tests.
It happens i have juste found it again in my junk.

Would appreciate any insight about the computer and how to max it out in its desktop form (no CT60 and PSU outside the case). What are the accelerator options, how do i connect it to modern LCD, to the internet? What RAM besides the 14 MB expansion? What can i do with it to match my Amiga of 2023? Are there any good resellers of parts or reference forum or website?

Thanks to all.

Well you probably don’t want that old relic of a computer so instead of binning it feel free to send it to me. I have lusted over the Falcon for a number of years now. It is a beautiful machine.

Haha but did you notice the french layout keyboard? Surely you wouldn't want to type on that?

CT60e (e stands for evolution) is a modern take on the CT60 and CT63 - you can use it with a pico psu to maintain the desktop form without need for an external psu. You can add up to 512MB ram with this. Mine runs at 100mhz without issue, apparently it can be clocked to 105 or even 107mhz.

Connecting to a monitor without using an adapter requires a vga cable. Alternatively if you can find them then both CTPCI and SuperVidel are RTG-like options, but both are rare and expensive.

You can use something like a netusbee (a cartridge) to add Ethernet capability - drivers work both under TOS and Mint.

Thanks for these valuable info.
Apart from the 68060 accelerators, is there anything in between the stock 68030@16 and the top of the range?

What is a good source to buy hardware for the Falcon?
I have found at Lotharek's the netusbee and a new 14 MB RAM upgrade (mine had an angled simm socket and didn't fit well in the desktop with the shielding.

Also, if i am not mistaken the OS is totally in ROM with the Ataris. Seems i have a chip with TOS 4.0 and D added with a pen, copyright 1992. Is there any better OS?
About hard drive, what is max size?

Yes, there’s an open source 50mhz 030 accelerator board here

There are threads on this on Atari-forum and exxos forum too

Thanks.
In the meantime, i have found a new 14 MB Ram expansion. The old one i have did not allowed to close the case properly.
I need time to have this one running on my desk, and it will certainly do wonders with all the MIDI equipment i have.

However, probably it would need recaping (including the onboard PSU) i guess? It there anyone in the Atari world recommended to carry this task?

the electronic super dance band "bodenständig2000" used a falcon for their music production
From where do you have this info? Their titles only claim that they've used "Atari 16/32 Bit Computers", not mentioned which ones... only YM is mentioned which is the Yamaha Soundchip!

Seems to me that some people which are in posession of an Falcon trying to find out how much they can achieve by selling it. Just found that out via "ebay kleinanzeigen". A person started a thread "Atari Falcon selling for approx €1200". I contacted him, we agreed on this price puls shipping. We also agreed that he sends me a sheet of paper were both our names, adress etc. is written and that I buy the falcon from him because otherwise I had NO PROOF of the money sent for the Falcon. He sent the pic to me and told me that he would send the paper with a letter to me... 4 weeks ago now. 5 days later he made a new Selling thread, now wanting €1500 for the same device. Make your own conclusion!!

hey strongarm, once again trying to find the error?
i met both in person in saarbrücken. does that count as liable info?

You should have included that info in your prior info... that is all. BTW, from the titles I've heard so far from them it is proven they have used ST/E machines for that.
