This is directed to whoever designed Atari ST(e) such that the mouse and joystick ports are at the front and *under* the damn keyboard.
I have just spent 30 minutes trying to get my joystick and Micromüs powered optical mouse connected to the damn thing again. I ended up having to open the screws of the machine and lifting the keyboard, then juggling the wires down through the lower case plastic hole and then closing the case again... and the damn cables got loose when I then moved the machine to my table near the tv. Done it all again and now it all works again but damnit... this should not be this difficult.
I admit, the problem is at least half caused by the wider than necessary connectors on my devices and could be avoided by getting extension wires... but I already have two joystick extension cables and guess what... BOTH of them also have wide connectors. :double
However, I can see no way of how anyone could possibly connect a mouse to atari ste such as mine without at least lifting the whole thing up and fiddling with it for at least a minute when really it should be no more difficult than connecting a mouse/joystick to Amiga/c64/atari 2600/what have you .
ARGH!
