Hello, I've been working on this for awhile. It is 1mb of battery backed
ram. the idea is to replace the A500 chip mem with sram. if the ram
can have the data retained when the computer is turned off, the
computer will perform a "warm boot" when power is applied. a RAD:
drive can be created to boot the computer. here is a pic of the first
prototype.

Now this is really interesting  and very

Good luck with ya developments tom :)

Forgive my ignorance, but would you not have to push the current CPU state to SRAM before power-off?

Effectively, would there be a requirement for both a shutdown and startup process being built in to Kickstart in order to support this type of state saving and resuming?

Hello All, the battery backed chip ram finallly works!!!! With this
board you can boot your computer without using a floppy. The board
has 1mb ram configured as chip memory. The memory on the main
board is disabled. I mount a RAD: disk which takes about 100k
of chip mem.... it is just enough space for the files needed to mount
the amiga os cf card... the cost is just under $50.00 for parts and board.
A nimh battery is used for backup. disabling the on board chip mem is quite easy as it involves cutting one or two traces depending on what
rev amiga you have.
