I'm torn between AmiCDROM and CacheCDFS, which one is best of those two. And what other options are there?

CacheCDFS is supplied with my controllers, and AmiCDROM is free on Aminet.

CacheCDFS all the way for me,

Free with OS3.5 & OS3.9 --- and from these 2 the files can be manually installed to OS3.1 too

@All

I really don't know so I decided to go against the grain. Although, I'm sure I'm using CacheCDFS.

Grr, I edited the poll to include Allegro which is sold with Elbox FastATA boards, and AmiCDFS which is a version of AmiCDROM, and then all votes got whiped.

I got Allegro CDFS with an Elbox 4xEIDE'99 and can highly recommend it. Installed from the floppy, rebooted, up came the CD drive. Seems fairly quick as well. Not tried any of the others so have no idea how it compares performance wise.

I was using the one that Came with the Budda card, but now I got a factory copy of ASIM CDFS. I really haven't used it all that much to make any judgements yet, so I have nothing to compare it to.

Back in the old days I remember that I used to swear to AsimCDFS, lately I've installed AmiCDROM and really haven't had anything bad to say about it. But then my use of CDROM filing systems isn't really that advanced, so I can't say if it's really great or really bad compared to the other players.

I use IDEFix, so whichever one is a part of that package?

I forget at the moment as I don't tinker with Amigas as much as I used to.

It's cacheCDFS. It's what's supplied with all of Jens' products.

AsimCDFS
For a few reasons:

- it works with Kickstart 2.0 as well
- it includes full CDTV & CD32 emulation (it even includes the cdtv.device file as well as the relevant libraries)
- it never errors

I once used CacheCDFS and it kept saying that there was read/write errors and/or checksum errors on my CDs. Even tweaking the MaxTransfer rate didn't solve this.
