what do you guys use on the c64 ?

I've never liked joysticks and still don't.

The megadrive is a nice pad but it buggers up the c64 keyboard.

Hi Mike,

I use one of these:

Technically, no it's not a pad but it has a 1 and 2 player switch so ideal as you can plug in both leads and flick the switch depending on what joystick port the game uses.

This pad is really good too:

It's a Cheetah Ballistix. I use it on my A500+ and also the C64 and my Spectrum's.

Steve.

I used an original NES pad on mine. Remove the chip and solder in the wires. Quite easy.

Good luck!

Heather

*EDIT* Another nice thing about doing it this way is that you can wire 'Up' to the second button for games that make you press up to jump.

always wondered how well these worked...

They're better than joysticks by miles (I grew up with the "traditional" UK-market joysticks, and I always found them awful), but they're still a bit cack, as I seem to recall that the pad is a little bit stiff and the buttons feel strange.
