I am using Surface 3 but it happened to me twice today. I have scan the hard drive and it seem fine. I don't know why I am getting this bluey screen crap!

I thinking of downgrading to Window 8.1 which had no problem whatever not even blue screen of death crap or stupid collecting information.....good on ya Mircosofty!

sigh !

Hi,
Do you know what the bsod read? I'd say from experience the usual culprit for the majority of bsods are the gpu drivers (not always obviously but I'd say it's more common than most these days).

If the error mentions anything like igfx (Intel gpu drivers) or nv4disp (nvidia) -sorry, I don't know what AMD gpu'so would report) then a simple install of a fresh driver download from the manufacturers website (even if it's the same driver version that's installed) usually fixes things.

Were you doing anything graphics intensive such as 3D or gaming as that could point to gpu drivers.

Ive actually had to stop Windows 10 updating my gpu drivers for the very reason that due to problems with my chipset and newer drivers not only do I get bsods but I also lose almost all 3D support.

I had BSODs on machines with Win2k and Win XP because of dying hard drives many times.

I had it a couple of times because of improperly cooled north bridge chips. Most people check the CPU temperature when this happens and forget the north bridge can produce a tremendous amount of heat.

Blue Screen View is a useful (free) utility to scan the minidump files created by a blue screen crash so you can see what caused the fault. The module name it crashed in can sometimes help tracking down the problem, as can searching the exact STOP code.
