Burning Dreamcast disks can be a bit of a pain on occasion - not as straight forward as Saturn disks for example. I was having a problem with one particular Dreamcast image I found and had burnt quite a number of "Coasters" if you know what I mean. Generally I find IMGburn (including the CDI files) very reliable however Disk Juggler successfully burnt the image I found this time using this setting...

In Options enable overburn disc in DiscJuggler (Do this for all DC games) In DiscJuggler/Advanced, Set Burn settings to Raw Write Mode 2 2352 CD-DA or Mode 1 2048 Raw Write and burn at 4x Speed.

An unregistered version of DJ will only burn at a low speed anyway.

This helped me so I thought I would share the info...

yeah DJ is a very good prog for DC games. I find that its the only programs to use unless the image is in another format but most are in the .GI format

Sage advice indeed, most of the DC rips were made with discjuggler in mind. Though I use cdi2iso for all my DC images nowadays and never had a problem with any of them

Have always used DJ for Dreamcast backups. Too many coasters with others, but it's been a while so things may be different today.

Imgburn uses the DJ dll and has no issues that I have seen since it was added.

That sounds cool. Will defo give that a try next time.

Trouble is that Dreamcast games are not on CDs, theyre GD-ROM discs.

This means that when copying one, it is often necessary to leave some information out in order to fit the game onto a standard CD-R.

Unless you have 99 minute cdrs. Most games were small enough to fit on a normal cd though. There were a few that we're large and had music or other files compressed or removed. The rip of Seaman for example had all the speech files recompressed to make it fit a cdr.

Shenmue had a 99 minute image knocking around

i have been tryin to burn resident evil 2 pal ntsc jap all 3 and i cant get past the sega screen i burn res 3 sweet and few other games just that 1 dam game lool i use dj to burn my games any 1 else get res 2 to work ??

I don't think it is unique to experience problems with quite a few images that are on-line, also I think the burner you use plays a big part. I am now having a problem with another image...

Guess I just got used to how easy it was to create Saturn disks... it does seem that I'm wasting quite a few disks here with the Dreamcast rogue images.

I have 20 working disks from various sites but the images that you find around can be a bit hit and miss on occasion to say the least - just checking the Dreamcast forums states this so it's not just me.

yip hit the nail on the head there thats why its ok to use a copy but once i get my DC back up and running I will be trying to get the original games for it.

i really don't think it's often!! Only in a few cases in my opinion.

The best thing for DC discs is Alcohol 120%. I have prpblems with any other.
I still fail at making my own emu CDs too. I'm not doing something right :/

Looks like there are are few probs with Res 2 from what I read.

I have now developed a runtime problem with DJ but I am having excellent results with Alcohol - I just needed to find the right... version :ninja: - I guess as cosmicfrog states though - you need the right images for the best results - seems as though there are quite a few "only 99% working" images around.

As Chris said - we can't disuss burning copyrighted material - closing thread.
