@jvdbossc

The UIEC is the next best thing to a 1541 Ultimate except it costs half as much at the 1541 Ultimate. I have one and it's wonderful! I'll be happy to help either of you with questions once you get one. :D

UIEC ?????

Tell me more someone please, I'm searching for a 1541 emulator of some kind...(But as cheap as :oops:)

TC :)

The UIEC from Jim Brain comes in two flavors, SD Version and an IDE+CF Version. The SD one takes SD cards but the IDE+CF one lets you use Hard Drives or CF cards. :)

You can use 1541 DOS commands to navigate through the files and D64 disk images on the card and load files just like you can from a real 1541. :) You can even write the disk images from the card to real 1541 disks.

About the only drawback to the device is that it is not 100% 1541 compatible. This means that some D64 games that use fastloaders will not work on the UIEC. Unfortunately, the only device that is 100% compatible is the 1541 Ultimate. :)

Hope this helps!

Thanks, I am currently saving to get the last bigbox missing Amiga, after that, I'll have a C64 on my desk again..Then I'll wan't such a device, since I have no room left for the flops...(I've got so much disk-boxes, even new ones)

The C64 never :help::help::help: leaves for sure....

I remember when I was at about 23 working with 14 year olds having a "computer day"

This was the setup:

A pentium 200mhz
An A500
A c128
A C64

What happend? The pentium was used for an houre, the A500 was used for 4 hours to play kickoff, the C64 & C128 was used by me and others but taken over frequently, If I remember right playing this one was popular:

And of course the classic ones:thumbsup:

@All
Me too - have just done a quick search on the UIEC - looks interesting.

@SDG Which version do you currently have the CF/IDE or SD version?.

@TC
Love the Sig. - Everytime I read it I cant halp but singalong

@jvdbossc
For the past couple of weeks my quad core pc has spent its life connected to my C64 via a XA1541 cable feeding it disc images - good to know that the new technology isnt totally wasted

@TC
What else could it be (My favourite song from favourite album)?.

Sadly I play guitar like Cozy Powel, Drum like Ronnie James Dio and sing like Ritchie Blackmore :Doh:

I had to ask mate, I've had some people inquire if it was a reference to Rainbow Islands the Game!! :lol:

@fatbob_gb

I have the SD version. :) I don't find much need for the IDE interface.
