Obviously it's a cartridge :-)

It has a wire coming off one side with a plunger type switch on it. I suspect it may be some kind of reset cart (action replay) but don't really want to plug it in and find out. Large version here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fto94o2w1djs95d/2013-12-19 18.31.18.jpg

Pay attention to the two wires at the top left (connected to a button ???), they seem tired. One EPROM: perhaps a prog or a game?!?!

It's most probably a freezer cart clone of some kind. As to which, you'd need to plug it in and see.

I have some time tomorrow - i'll plug it in and see if it does anything. It's quite unlikely it will work as those tracks look pretty bad. I have all the gear to repair the tracks etc so could be worth doing....

Decided to have a play today - it didn't work at first but after some reworking I got there :-)

Turns out it's a freeze frame... not sure what to do with it now. Might be worth picking up and old cart and ripping it apart to make this into a cart. I am presuming this is a clone....

I remember these! I had a fair amount of "backup" games on tape made with one, every game was called FF on loading back, you had no idea until it loaded what the game was!
