I need to find somewhere that will replace/re-solder the memory sockets on my Vaio GRZ-615, and not rip me off in the process. Can anybody recommend a decent company?
Might sound a dumb question but have you tried approaching sony themselves? I don't know the extent of the damage but they may suprise you.

Sounds like perhaps a job for one of the guys on here with their uber electronics skills 'with the PCBs and the heat guns and they hey hey not in the face nice science type person' (Prof. Frink).
I can do it, I have repaired loads of this type in years 2004-2007. Memory sockets reflow should help but only if you are sure it is a problem, many of them had dry joints under bga (loads under ATI). On some of them there was plastic bar between simm sockets (a part of a bottom case) and if it is there it will take some time to take out the board but if it is a type without this bar only simm cover is in the way. I loved these Sony laptops, had one with a 16" 1600/1200 LCD - superb. PM me if you are interested ( I can forget about this thread ).
