I have usually had decent luck on eBay buying retro computing equipment. However, a recent experience has made me want to warn the rest of the Amiga and retro computing scene. Is there a place here where we can do that?

Think it could bring arguments here as others will say they've had no problems with the seller. I always check the feedback on the ebay seller so if you've had bad service mind and leave them a negative ;)

Could be slanderous so I say no not really, that's what the feedback system is for.

Cool, makes sense guys. Please keep in mind I had no intention of slandering, merely warning the community. That is all :)

yeah I know how you meant it, just Amibay has to remain impartial to these matters :)

On top of the impartial comments above (which make sense) - why on earth would we even need this? AmiBay and eBay are in no way connencted. In my opinion, it's of no concern to AmiBay, therefore, it has no place here (in my opinion)

Whilst I fully understand and support the reason why we don't have such a thread here, it's only fair to point out that other trading-focussed communities do have such things due to there being overlap with who sells where.

Again, I fully understand and support the reason there isn't a warnings thread here - I'm just pointing out why it's a perfectly legitimate suggestion. ;)

To be honest, I'm not a member on many 'trading' forums as such, so have nothing to compare against. However, it seems a bit of a 'grey area' to me.
At the end of the day, I'm not an admin here, nor a moderator anymore, so it's not my descision.
However, it's good to here everybody's opinions and also to know that other trading forums do in fact have this.

My thought process was that a lot of people that I've spoken with buy retro computing equipment on eBay. The eBay feedback system gives you a few characters to type a review of your interactions with a seller. Since we're such niche hobbyists buying hard to find and expensive gear, it seemed to me something that may be useful.

@ esc

Please PM me with some details about the seller concerned and I'll discuss it with the other Admins.
