well its just a Pentium Pro / Pentium II (possibly around the 233MMX ) motherboard with 512K Cache RAM, 72PIN sockets *I suspect upto 128MB of RAM 32*4, it also has a SCSI card and another PCI card fitted that I cannot see.

I suspect the board might have on board VGA graphics but I cannot identify what or what chipset it might be - the era of the board negates an Intel Video Graphics card. -

socket 5 weren't MMX ;)

only went to 133Mhz too apparently.

so its not a 233MMX, and the Pentium pro used a different socket.

like I said, its landfill :p

One card seems to have a IDE connection onthe top of it and then a funny looking port that looks a bit like ltp on the back "has a scsi sticker"..
then theres an s3 Gfx card near that.
and the small one is a... Unbranded game controller sound card

so its ok to recycle this correct??

its not some one off ancient proto type crazy stupid thing correct

the cpu jumper selections allow upi to 100Mhz says the board.
but then again theres a whole bunch more jumpers than that and im sure if i look there will be a secondary cpu speed selection multiplier..

Sadly its a common bit of kit
(i missed the point where you said Socket 5 LOL)

hmmm Virge S3 graphics eh missed that too.... looks like I am getting old.

I would recyle as much as I could - CPU / Cache RAM / Memory / PCI Cards - if I needed them I would desolder the sockets ISA / PCI - possibly any of the needed chips on the board - FDC etc...

it all depends on what you could re-use from the machine - personally I dont like throwing things away if they can be re-purposed / reused.

its a SCSI PCI controller, the "IDE connection" is actually 50pin, IDE is 40, that was already identified, and is probably worth removing and keeping, may come in handy if you have an amiga with a scsi drive that you're trying to get working.

other than that, I don't see much use for the rest (having said that, I saw no use for the Amigas 10 years ago either...)

i wont have a use for them my self..

I will have a look through the wanted hardware and see if any of this stuff i have here matches up with any of the wanted stuff.

colour me a dissapointed shade of blue..
but the wife can be a happy yellow bunny.

Open up a SALE / RECYCLE thread as well -

that way if anyone wants anything they can jump in -

I would put up the proviso that you would be dealing with those that have Wanted thread's first - but helps the rest of our orderly bunch get into line =)

ah but with all this old stuff i have im in that same age old situation where i have NO idea what its worth lol.:double
and im bound by the rules so i cant ask..

I will search the wanted hardware threads lol.

Probably not worth anything. Certainly I can't imagine anyone paying for it to be shipped when they could probably get one locally too.

Offer it free to anyone local through the recycle thread?

free or best offer :p

the power supply may be worth holding onto, if you ever feel you might need a bench power supply with +-5 and +-12volt rails.

i have a few ata psu's

although The 80mm fans in them are usualy more valuable to me than the psu itself.

striped out the addon cards, and they will go in my Box 'o' junk
the board and case are now in the pile of cases to get recycled.

It may be old but I neve came across any Cache RAM, which is a real boon for the cpu, always wanted some but non ever came my way.

this is a very familar board layout, cant see any extra sockest for video memory so I hope its got the full 1Mb on board, least it got pci slots so it not all bad

Pentium (I) board, perfectly useful in a DOS box, particularly with both ISA and PCI slots...i am amazed anyone would consider this landfill on a site like this....

i guess l33t1sm is not dead.

but why bother with a Pentium 100, when you can get socket 370 boards with ISA and PCI slots, that will support up to ~1200Mhz CPUs?

and chances are most of those have been thrown out too.

I agree, it is amazing how many "landfill" apple II, commodore 64, Amiga 500 and the like are rare and sought after now.

well too late now..
This is what happens when you get married..
but shes busy looking for a new bigger house too so probably for the best to clear out stuff..

We will see how long till we move house, but the good news is if we leave here my brother will come here and then this address is still good for all my post and bank stuff so i wont need to rush to figure out all that junk.

and i really do need a bigger work space any way.
"something tells me its going to be wooden damp and at the bottom of the garden.. and that just will not do.

because if i am running a DOS box for compatibility with DOS games i dont want CPUs running a bajillion mhz

a P75/P90/P100 is perfect

and that is kind of the point to this hobby.

You never mentioned if the system, as a whole booted/posted as it was? Or did I miss that.

For me, most really old pcs just don't so anything for me, unlike the fixed platforms of other retro systems. Yes they are fun to run old Dos and win 9x software and os's, but with virtual machines and Dosbox, these days for me it all just takes up more space, whereas emulating/virtualization of these old pc's is just as fun, and also more portable and easier to manage. F.ex, after setting up win 98se on a virtual machine, I can save a backup of the virtual machine's virtual HDD and never need to set it up again.
