most probably either booted or.. overclocked till it died. I didnt test it..
But thats the story with all my old jumper clock setting systems..

on a similar note though i found a strange socket 7 mother board..
it used to slide in to a monitor.. i dont have the monitor but il take a pic any way..
probably going to send that off to recycling some itme too..

Sounds like a Compaq unit like this one...

The mbd sits in a tray that slides out from the rear of the machine. Used to have one (and sell them too for Tempo, back in the day!) bugger to work on they were.

Pentium (I) board, perfectly useful in a DOS box, particularly with both ISA and PCI slots...i am amazed anyone would consider this landfill on a site like this....

i guess l33t1sm is not dead.

but why bother with a Pentium 100, when you can get socket 370 boards with ISA and PCI slots, that will support up to ~1200Mhz CPUs?

and chances are most of those have been thrown out too.

because if i am running a DOS box for compatibility with DOS games i dont want CPUs running a bajillion mhz

a P75/P90/P100 is perfect

and that is kind of the point to this hobby.

You missing one more point - real COM and real LPT

yes its one of those..

i know for a fact that i overclocked that one to death..
i was playing theme hospital on it when smoke came out of the back.. :roll:

i think i have a spare cpu though so should be ok.. But seems the rest of the case has dissapeared and im left with only the mother board.icard

so...
recycle fodder 2 corect?
nothing on the board worth keeping?? (il probably have to add a pic for that to be answerd.)

Save the CPU, RAM and some other parts if you can use a soldering iron:

-battery holder;
-cache RAM chips (if socketed);
-flash ROM (if any).


-Oh, and the power supply!

im 99% sure this particular cpu is dead lol..
il hot air all the chips off the board and see whats left in the end of the day.

So here is befor and after..

is there any reason taking more of these things off because Its HOT today. and this work is making me all sweatty lol.

i had decided to take off all the smd caps and resistors But theres a million of them on the other side of the board lol.

im tempted to just throw it in the oven at about 200C for 30 mins then shake the board over a tray to get them off lol..

i will be taking the ports off. and those jumper pin things could be usefull for me so il keep those too.
and i guess the socket could be usefull if i ever find a BGA to PGA board and need to socket it. so il probably keep that too. although really socket 7 isnt going to be very helpful at the end of the day so i may just not bother.
