Good evening guys!
Sorry to post this but I have been working on a setup for 3 nights now and I am obviously overlooking something.

First, my issue is that after installing WB3.1 on a CF card I move it onto my Amiga 1200 and it does not boot.

I have read too many docs now and I'm finding myself going in circle repeating the same docs over again and again...

Right, this is what I have:

Amiga 1200, 3.00 ROM 39.106
*EDIT* The CF card I'm trying to use is a SanDisk Ultra 30MB/s 4GB card.
I have already tried a CF card that was installed before and the Amiga boots fine with this one so hardware should be ok.

I have a 4 GB CF card that I have cleaned using Diskpart.
Created a primary volume with Diskpart that shows the volume as Raw, it does not show in Windows as a usable disk.

I mounted the CF card as a UAE HD controller and did the changes needed to the HDTool icon.

- I have partitioned the card into:
DH0:500 Mb
DH1:500 Mb
DH2:1000 MB

I have changed the MaxTransfer setting to 0x1fe00 , pressed enter and after saving I have confirmed that the setting is actually applied.

Further I set that DH0 was bootable, DH1 and DH2 were not.
I quick formatted the drives assigning the names:
DH0:System
DH1:Programs
DH2:Games

I performed the install with WB3.1 without errors and it boots fine after install using WinUAE...

Then I move it onto my A1200 to verify that it boots and I' like

I guess this has been asked before and answered too many times, I'm just stuck in my own circle and not able to break free...

Any pointers guys?

Please, DO treat me as a newbie, this is my first install....

If you run HDToolbox on your real Amiga does it see the card? if it does I would partition it on that instead of WinUAE. If it doesn't someone else can take over as that's all i've got lol

Just wrapped it up for tonight but I'll try that tomorrow...
Was hoping to be able to do it all from the pc but I've got to start somewhere and any progress would be nice :)

Will get back to you on the result :)

I used a similar SanDisk card (I think mine was the 15MB/s one, can't remember). Everything done with WinUAE before transferring to the miggy. This was over a year ago though, so my memory is a little blurry.

I do remember that it took me 2 attempts because I was rushing and didn't pay attention to things that needed to be done. Some weirdness with which device to select within WinUAE.

BTW, and this is slightly off-topic, but it really messes with my OCD when I see DH0:, DH1: etc.

My Amiga 1200 defaulted to HD0:, HD1: etc, which in my mind is the right way around :)

That is the same for every file system they did not developped or took part of it.

have a look at my guides

this is to setup sfs on a cf card to work in miggy

www.amibay.com/showthread.php?t=19953

and to install wb3.1 to 3.9 then cwb3.9 if needed

https://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?t=20315

all install can be done in winuae then put in the amiga

Actually, your guides has been used twice, I was really happy when I came across them and I worked through them twice. I went as far as to were you finished the WB3.1 install and then just moved the card over to the Amiga.
Obviously, not finishing with 3.9 might make the guide a bit wrong, but I guess that when WB3.1 has been installed it should basically be ok and no other configuration needs to be done at this stage... To try and clearify, after the install you are asked to remove the disk and do the reboot... This is were I stopped.

I'll try to pick up a different CF card tomorrow, just to have the option while testing more during the weekend:)

What I usually do is partition and format on the real amiga, so you know how far it supports the new large storage.. This is general advice on any rom.. Remember while 1.44 meg flops where mainstream lots of amiga's where sold with less 720K stations general talk about 880 K units and you need less on amiga was enough..

@rolux you can just finish at wb 3.1 and reboot no further is needed it is fully installed there.

BTW: Windows version is also important, like in Windows 7 winuae works, but it does not state limitations about user level, and there is no way exept right click as admin to wok around it.

That was what I thought...
I'll try to get hold of a different CF card as well just to have that "ticked off" :)
Thanks for all help so far, I'll update with a status during the weekend :)

is the hardware setup the same in winuae as in the Amiga? I just set up an sfs 3.9 install myself. In my case did partitions on pc then copy cloned the 3.9 install across to the cf . it's how I've always done it lol prob not adhering to any of these guides but hey it works!
