Hey guys,

Where can I track down a decent amount of large capacity, fast (for Amiga) and compatible CF cards? Fleabay is a crap shoot and nobody carries them in stores...seemingly...

If someone does know of a store in the md/va/dc area, let me know!

For full compatibility I recommend SanDisk CF cards, either 2GB or 4GB capacity or more. They are just great.

Bought lots kingston cf 4gb cards and not one has given me a problem and thet are fairly cheapo, disagree with you on ebay though mine were all from there

Kingston cf cards are cheap for sure, cost about 9 usd inc 25% vat here for the 4gb variant. but damn they are slow. transfering 1-2-3-4gb of stuff to them is a hassle. i use the twice as expensive ultras with 10x the speed. the ultra in sd variant is cheap as chips though.

Yeah thats true 4gb to 4gb on a kingston is soooooo long-a-time 3 hrs and more ! gulp!

I would suggest getting a cheap IDE to SD adapter from fleabay and buy a class 10 SD-card.
That will give you good performance at a lower price than a decently sized and fast CF-card.

I saw some 4Gb at 15 MB/s Sandisk for sale on the A4000T.com site. Don't know if they are in the right price range though.

That's probably the best advice at the moment. Seemingly CF cards are becoming less common and more expensive, whereas SDHC cards cost practically nothing. I'm not sure why more isn't being said about using SD cards instead of CF ones...

I agree. Price is good and it has wear-leveling algorithms which is missing from SD and CF solutions, which would cause them to fail quickly if used regularly. With a riser it should fit straight into most Amigas. Has anyone tried using them in an Amiga?

I'd also like to know this...

I use the same kind of thing in my 1200 (16GB) it's been great

Are you using the standard IDE interface? And what speed can you get from it?
