Ciao Amibay!
My name is Enzo and I'm italian.
Precisely, I live in Calabria now, but I was born and grew up in Naples.
I'm 20 (yes, one of the youngest Amiga users in the world, I guess) and I discovered the Amiga world in 1998: I was 7, a neighbor just bought a brand new Pentium II PC and he didn't knew what to do whit his old Amiga setup (A500, 1084S, A590, mouse, joystick, external FDD) so he asked me if I had a computer... then he gave it to me and I started using that computer every day! I was very proud to have it, all my friends and schoolmates were just amazed seeing that thing on my desk, we spent a lot of time playing great games together... good times...
Then, in 2003 my A500 got a problem: the keyboard didn't worked at all.
So, my dad started to work on trying to repair it spending a lot of time, but unfortunately nothing was worth, so we decided, with my immense sorrow, to give it away (fortunately I kept with me the he mouse, the external FDD and the 1084S monitor which I used as a TV set together with a VCR) and buy a new PC
I missed so much the Amiga, after a short time I discovered the world of emulation and started to use WinUAE, a great program, but it wasn't certainly like my great Amiga.
A year ago, the wish of put my hands again on a real Amiga was so strong, so I started saving some money and searching on Ebay for a good deal.
Then I found it! An Amiga 500 with A590... what a perfect opportunity to start from where I stopped 7 years before!!!
I won the auction and I was happy the same way as in '98 with my first A500!
From then, as I always liked old technologies, music, cars and bikes... and of course, way of life, I started to collect other "vintage" computers and game consoles. Of course, my favourite brand is Commodore
I have several CBM's machines (VIC20, C16, C64, C64C, C64G, C128, C128DCR, A500, A600, A1200, CDTV and a lot of peripherals as 1541s, 1581, Datassettes and so on). I also have other pieces of old-school hardware: ZX Spectrum 48k, Atari 520STfm, Olivetti M10, Apple IIe, Ti/99-4a, VT Laser 500... Retro-consoles are: Atari VCS "heavy sixer", Mattel Intellivision, Nintendo NES and SNES, two 70s italian Pong-clones (Zanussi Ping-o-Tronic and Polistil Video Games) and other 8/16-bit era consoles... I also have a nice collection of games for each console
But the Amiga remains the most important platform for me, I use it every day and I talk about it on italian forums like Amigapage.it or Amiganews.it with friends I also saw here. Now I'm expanding my A1200 to enjoy a quite full AmigaOS 3.9, Internet and WHDload experience
I think this is a nice Amiga resource with lots of friendly people and good deals
I couldn't miss this great forum! Congratulations to the entire staff!
So, that's me! See you around the thousands of threads on here!
Enzo
