Hi all,

I picked up this 128 around 18 months ago as part of the kit I got from the much missed Johnim.

I sent the board and 1571 off to Bas (TheCorfiot) in Greece to repair a memory fault on the board and also install Jiffy dos. The video memory is also socketed now in case I want to upgrade later.

Here's some pics of the build, unfortunately I'm having some trouble with the Floppy Drive (lights and motor stays on) I'm pretty sure I hooked everything up right!

I'm sure I'll figure it out as it was all working at Calibrated before Bas returned the boards.

Very nice, Steve. Bas doing a fine job, as usual. Are those keys getting a retr0bright dip eventually? My 128 keys were like yours but the frame was actually worse, like someone has varnished it.

Thanks! Nah I think l will leave the keys, gives it character!

I didn't get the 1571 working however I decided to transplant the refurbished drive into my 128D and it's working great so I'll revisit the 1571 another time and enjoy the setups as they are right now :)

If I revisit it I'll definitely look at putting a meanwell in. I've got a few Commodore bits that need some work eventually lol.

edit, the real point is it looks and feels like it was cobbled together to get the drive out the door back in the day,i have nothing against linear supplies accept badly made/implimented ones, the dcr supply is fine change two caps, your done, the us get the better deal i feel ,im sure they got switching supplies

Not at all bud, I appreciate your advice, I'm really not up to scratch on C64 stuff as I was speccy back in the day so it's quite alien to me! I know a lot of C= stuff was built down to a price!
