This is a near mint original packaging boxed Commodore 1541 II Floppy Disc Drive.
Compatible with VIC20 C64 C64C C128 C16 and Plus4.


Original PSU, Serial Cable, Instruction Manual Included as well as 1541 Test disc.
All Items are in nearly new condition.


It has been fully refurbished and tested, Alignment has been checked using Factory Alignment disc and the drive functions perfectly 100%.

Bonus is that it is also fitted with a dual kernel JiffyDOS solution (see pictures). this switchable using the mini toggle fitted cleanly on the rear.

what is jiffydos

JiffyDOS is a software enhancement replacement DOS that speeds up disc transfers phenominally..
A program that takes 1 minute to load using CBMDOS can load in under 10 seconds with JiffyDOS, very reliable too.

This drive has a CBM / Jiffy mode select switch on the rear for 100% compatibility with all supported systems.

Your c64c does not need to have jiffydos installed, the drive will function as a stock 1541 II.
I can look at upgrading your c64c in the future to jiffyDOS if you wish..

Just to clarify, if you were to only pay half this month would you want me to send you the drive straight away?

and if adding jiffydos to c64c involves soldering/de-soldering then I wouldn't be able to that lol since I never use one and scared incase of damaging it

in JiffyDOS mode there is no tape support, hence our c64c would also have a dual mode switch.

I think your best bet is to google the subject

yes just not in jiffy mode,, the extra code for jiffydos takes up the tape routine space.

all i can say is jiffydos is the single best upgrade for a c64, you would wonder how you used a c64 without it, 5 minute loading times down to 20-30 seconds.

commodore disk loading routines were well know for being as slow as tape god only know why they done that. you only need to disable jiffydos when loading from tape. jiffydos also includes many more commands , shortcuts for ease of use.

thecorfiot installed jiffydos in both my 1541 and c64, its a joy to use.
