I'm currently moving out and selling off my retro-computing collection. After few months of doubt I finally decided to part with one of the gems of my collection.

So here's my 2001 piano black Thinkpad S30 in mint condition still boxed with all its guides, original Japanese adverts, restoration CDs and accessories. This is a rare part of Thinkpad history which has been mine since more than 10 years now and seldom used (always with gloves since it was mostly on display at my own private museum). It has always been kept in the dark, away from the sun, in a humidity and temperature-controlled environment and of course in a smoke-free house. I don't think you won't get a nicer S30. The BIOS battery still hold a charge and the main battery has been kept removed from the Thinkpad so there's no leakage whatsoever from it. I don't think it would hold much of a charge still since it hasn't been charged for a while but I can test it if you want.

Factory reinstalled Windows ME (Japanese edition) and all the CDs are included (I also took the liberty to upload their contents to archive.org to help fellow collectors looking for them given that they are ultra rare and weren't dumped till now : https://archive.org/details/SLCJP10).

Specs in a nutshell:
  • 256MB RAM
  • Pentium III 600MHz
  • 20GB HDD
  • Model number: 2639-43J
  • Very nice Japanese QWERTY full size (like the 701C "butterfly" Thinkpad) keyboard
  • Windows ME (XP compatible)

I also include the following extras:
  • a rare optional external USB CD-ROM reader in piano black that match the special color of the S30. Also complete in (flattened) box it was released alongside the S30
  • an heavy (silver ?) medal of IBM Japan, part of my private IBM collection
  • a 3COM PCMCIA Wifi a/b/g card with retractable antenna that matches the overall S30 design (really sleek)
A gallery with many pictures of the lot is available at this address: http://jonastermeau.com/TPS30/

I'm asking 800€ for it including worldwide shipping (tracked and insured) for what I believe it's a unique opportunity to get such a rare machine in such a great shape and complete with all its accessories (700€ for in-hands delivery (I'm located in western France)). Paypal payment only (goods and services). Do not hesitate to ask me anything about it

You would have better luck selling the medal separately as it has nothing to do with the computer.

Also you should definitely try targeting japanese buyers directly because I don't think anyone here will buy. Even the famous Thinkpad 701c does not fetch that much.

Thanks for your input. As I don't know any english speaking Japanese forums I only posted on Thinkpad Forums and here. Regarding the price I believe it matches the museum-grade condition of the computer. I can only be biased since that's mine but it was an exercise in computer conservation to keep it that way for so many years, the asking price reflect that.
