Hi, I’ve bought a RM650 — 650 Watt 80 PLUS PSU to use with an Amiga 3000. The instructions say the 24 pin power connector can made a 20 pin connector as it’s modular. But my cables have no such function? I need the 20 pin to use the A3000 power adapter. I’m lost! Any help please?

Hi,

I think the 24p connector, the one on top of the second photo you uploaded need to be split into 20p and 4p. Most 24p connectors should have a small clip that keeps the two parts together. If possible please upload photo from the other side of the 24p connector. Should look something like the photo I've attached.

Unfortunately it seems your connector cannot be split. Very common on newer PSUs. Most likely Corsair made a new revision and is now using newer connectors since the 20p is no longer used in motherboards nowdays.

I’ll need to contact them or find someone who has one? 🤷🏻‍♂️ Thanks for your help 👍🏻

Could I cut it myself?
Not sure how much the Amiga 3000 is pulling on each rail, but perhaps is better to get another "cheap-o" PSU from Amazon, usually the cheaper ones tend to have the option to split the 24p connector.

in the EU the buyer has 14 days to cancel the purchase, not sure how it works in UK

You can get a custom modular direct ATX PSU adapter cable here on Amibay to completely replace the modular cables which came with your PSU and which includes the power switch. Look in the Amiga hardware sales thread. I just unboxed a package with such adapters for Seasonic SFX modular PSU’s.

And be carefull what you use with modular PSU's as the connector off the PSU might NOT follow the pinout on the other end for the 24 pin connector which normally connects to an ATX motherboard. Whomever builds the modular adapter needs to know which PSU model you will use.
