Hi all

As the title says my Cyberstorm MK2 had bitten the dust a while ago, the diagnose is that the Xilinx FPGA got damaged probably due to a power surge or ESD discharge.

It was a couple of years ago and I've assumed that I've an expensive paperweight now :(, but the question is, is there any way to replace it, i.e from a donnor one ?

Greets.

Show a few close-up photos and have you tried it in another Amiga 3000/4000 ?
Power surges or esd's don't always mean end of life for an Amiga or card.
Might be worth to try.
Had a hugh power surge with my A1200 an B1260 back in the days, was fine after just getting everything out an reseating the indivision MKII and B1260

There are lot of people here who can repair it, had a Blizzard PPC once that was a bit faulty, but was repaired and upgraded by @stachu100

No, It was already tested by a fellow technician here, no way to repair it, the Xilinx FPGA is dead.

And AFIK there is no way to repair it unless replaced the FPGA by a an identical one.

No these files are the ROM files for BPPC or CSPPC. We would need here the config file to reprogram the FPGA of the CS-MK2. Unless this file is released by a former Phase5/DCE member, it would be unlikely to have it, but you never know what might come up. I would discuss the matter on A1k.org if you can speak german, most wonders and miracles come from there.
I also have a CS-MK2 which is still the heart of my main rig, and i am of course interested in the possibilty of serious repairs if needed in the future.

Sadly these suffer the same fate has BPPC & CSPPC if the CPLDs go I have one which is also dead due to this, mine was running fine then I had a guru error and then the computer would not restart, a friend tried to re-flashed the boot rom but still no luck sadly, it is annoying because if only they were not locked, we could copy them bringing them all back to life always a worry with these because they are not cheap to replace.

Yep same here, guru meditation then failed to restart, result in broken CPLD and two burnt SMD capacitors.

You are starting to frighten me 😱
Did you get this from bad PSU or bad caps on mobo?
Aren't the caps on the CSMK2 of tantalum type? I think that those ones are good as long as the card is used frequently, and can explode when shorted after long time being discharged.

Well, happened after a long non usage of several months (covid lockdown and it was in another home) so maybe you are right.
