Do you have any Goals for your Retro?

Full sets are crazy and get your wife very angry.

I have the PAL Dreamcast fullset minus one game, and i think i will be kicked out of home if i look for more.

My main goal is to actually try and play all my games :)

This!

I'm about to move house and will have more room. I can finally play some of the stuff lingering in the loft like the Master System and NES among others. I don't need anything else really.

I can't stop myself collecting random bits and pieces....at times just for the sake of it which is not good!....well and truly hooked with the collection bug!
Randomly bought a boxed SNES Super GameBoy adapter yesterday......why?! I don't plan on playing it but it was in such excellent condition at a decent price!

...but then so much of it is emotional ties, much of it I played with as a kid so selling it wouldn't be easy

this is only some of the hardware, the likes of my A500, A500+ and Atari ST is not in the picture along with many more consoles come to think about it....geez :o

At last count, marginally over 600 games behind the camera.....desperately running out of room!!!

My goal is actually to own LESS retro stuff.

Bryce.

I suppose if i have any 'goals' in respect to my retro collection, it is just to fill out the few items that i am missing in terms of the things that I would have loved to have as a kid/teenager, but that we could never afford...I am most of the way there, but i'd say I am still missing...

Timex Sinclair 1000
Atari 400/800 (non-XL) (+ a drive of some description) (I already have an 800XL and a 600XL + RAM expander)
TRS-80 (model I or II preferably)
Macintosh (an early model, one of those all in ones, like a Classic or something)
IBM PCjr
IBM PS/2 Model 25/30 (maybe 40/50)

Bally Astrocade
Emerson Arcadia 2001
Fairchild Channel F
Atari 5200
RCA Studio II

of course, it's usually just money getting in the way :P

taken a break the last 2 years or so to catch up on my tabletop gaming, however. (particularly Star Wars Minis, X-Wing Miniatures and Imperial Assault)

This.

I don't really have any goals. I'm pretty happy with what I have now - I just need to sit down and play them all! I'm currently at around a quarter completed and something like 60% of the games I haven't finished, I haven't even played yet!

At last count I have:

3DO - 61 games
PlayStation 2 - 98 games
PlayStation 3 - 33 games
Sega CD - 8 games
SNES - 53 games
Wii - 27 games
PC - 48 games
Xbox - 10 games
Xbox 360 - 24 games
PC (Steam / GOG / etc) - 230 games
PlayStation - 16 games
Nintendo DS - 12 games
Nintendo 64 - 6 games
Atari 2600 - 8 games
DOS - 20 games
Dreamcast - 19 games
Game Boy/Color - 3 games
GameCube - 25 games
Game Gear - 1 games
Mac - 18 games
NES - 25 games
Nintendo 3DS - 8 games
PlayStation 4 - 9 games

I don't think there is much point in setting a number of games to collect per system as a goal. Some systems only have a few aaa titles (you would be hard pressed to collect 100 N64 games that were good f.ex.).

As others have said, my goal has always been to collect the best games released on each system. I normally grab them all when a system is on its last legs as people are normally selling them cheap to clear space for the sucessor.

You might struggle to achieve 100 Dreamcast games that are all good. To do that you would need to import as a lot were never released in the UK. Especially some RPGs and 2D fighting games such as Mark of the Wolf. I've got about 160 original DC games, but I collected them at the time and imported a lot new from the US. There are some great titles on the DC but they are becoming harder to find.

On the original Playstation I collected all the AAA titles and also tried to collect every RPG released. Again many of these were never released in Europe so I imported from the US. I can't remember exactly how many PS1 games I have as originals but it's around 200. PS2 it's a lot more, and again I tried to collect as many RPGs as I could but there were a lot on the PS2 so I ended up having to use my chipped PS2 and download the more obscure titles. I'm sure for PS2 RPGs alone my collection totals over 150 at least.

If I included PC then it's way over 2000 if I include Steam. Maybe About 300 boxed originals.

For Amiga I easily have over 300 boxed originals but many duplicates that I need to sort out.

At the present time I have a fully working spectrum 48k and 2 A600 with 2MB chip and 2MB PCMCIA as fast ram and 4gbcf with whdload each. I have also an unexpanded A500.
Right now I'm waiting for a vampire to one of my A600.
In the future I would like to have an A1200 with a vampire too.
