soz if this is in the wrong place! im sure it'll b shifted eventually! lol

ok down to business!

cd32 - was working a while back with no probs, now theres no RCA video (yellow plug. unsure on audio!), RF is awol too! not got svid cable so no checks there!

it had an analogic floppy on the expansion port/bus thing (cream thing, sticks out back and over top) which i removed and fitted an sx32 card i recently bought from a very reliable source! it was configd with a 4gig mmc card and set up with wb!

noises and lights are: cd - normal boot sounds (starts, whirs, stops), green light constantly on, orange flickers during cd action. tried putting the floppy back on, it made its usual grinding noises.

tried a music cd to see if it acted normal, which it did (sounded like it played it! but didnt check audio)

i really want to get this working so any advice, hints etc?!

k, well that sounds like fun! prob wont get done for a bit unfortunately... but quick update....

i remembered i had another cd32 i got 2 months back! i never really knew why i got it! lol analogic saved the day! :) the sx32's workin in newer cd32 so panic over! nice repair job! i've not soldered much in the last few years BUT im lookin forward to this!

btw what caps i need for this? (values & voltages and types of) ill b able to find on mboard for removal/replace :) also any recommended uk company for them? maplins electronics for example?

ta for fast reply btw :)

The two big capacitors inside the CD32 are soldered backwards (in true Commodore style :picard) and they bulge and leak and all that jazz.

I think there is a thread in here with the correct values and correct placements.

ta for that info :)

yea opened up cd32 and 2 caps by expansion interface a lovely orangie redie colour on tops plus ones swolen! as predicted caps gonna! the other by video stuff look fine and mess free :) as only 2 gone im goin to b mad and leave the third to "if it aint broken dont fix!"

glad they aint surface mount caps!!!

cheers folks :)

btw got cap kit for cd32 from amigakit.com... then realised cpc or (grr) maplins coulda done em cheaper! but best to get off fixers of cd32s as im doin the fixing! (any other repairs i can do i will do :) )

cheers folks your all bril :) glad to be here :)

ok im really p'd off with amigakit.com! took them nearly 2 weeks to send my caps, 5 (YES FIVE) people handled the order! i dont know why i didnt just go to cpc or (gulp!) maplins! its a simple order, pack of capacitors, nice and easy! they are in a tiny envelope sizes packet, payment was instant, why the hell TWO weeks?! oh and it gets better... delivered by PARCEL not POST! i had something same size delivered day before by post!

what makes it even worse is... the place is only about 100+ miles away in wales! bloody hell! from cardiff to staffordshire... you could DRIVE there and back in a day!

due to this im only using amigakit.com as a last resort to order from! sorry but there you go!

anyhow, rant over! now once this place is returned to its non flood damaged state i can finally fix my cd32 with my nice new caps! im actually looking forward to this! :)
