I'm searching for an external enclosure that would fit a 3.5" floppy disk drive. It also needs to have its own PSU to power the drive so something like a SCSI case would be good.

This case is needed for my KryoFlux setup. I want to fit the floppy drive and Kryoflux into an external case, with the KryoFlux board connected and powered by USB cable and the floppy drive powered separately from the case's own PSU.

If anyone has a case that might fit this need please let me know. I'm thinking an old SCSI case might be the best option. Maybe a tape drive one.

How about an used USB IDE PATA case? Easily hackable and with all the requirements you want.

Strip the IDE controller board and all is done.

When I was looking for one for this exact purpose, USB IDE/PATA cases are typically too small to put the KryoFlux board in them (they're designed to be as close to the size of the drive as possible).

I wound up needing to use a 2 bay, 5.25" external enclosure with internal PS, so that I could mount the board, a 5.25" floppy and a 3.5" drive in an adapter, plus the KryoFlux board.

You're on the right rack with the tape drive enclosure...

I have a case here, the only thing is it has a thick black racing stripe down both sides labelled "SCSI at work."
I'll get some pics and measurements.

Inside dimensions (what you would have available inside excluding the PSU):

50mm x 210mm x 144mm

I may have a different faceplate for it, for a 3.5" drive

Hi X-ray,

If you do have a 3.5" drive faceplate for it, and the internal PSU is still working fine then I'm definitely interested. If I don't like the black stripe I can always paint the case, maybe even alter the stripe to say KryoFlux! :)

Please PM me so we can discuss.
