Ok.

I have been back a while. I had been away for a longer time. But, during my time back, I have observed other optimists return, often with the same questions that I had when I returned.

Now, despite what my mother taught me when I was young: "Arnljot, there are no stupid questions, do not be afraid or ashamed to ask."
Age has taught me that there are how ever search functionality, and if you don't use it, you may come across as annoying.

Now, to her defense, my mother lived in the paper age, perhaps more advanced than the bronze age, knowledge took ear much time to acquire.

But I digress, what question gets your eyes to roll, blood to boil or skin to crawl?

Poll is open!

I truely believe that Java and active scripting will bring down the whole internet soon, so I am glad and relieved that Java is not avalible. The day it is, will be a very scarry and sad day.

Re: Faux pas, worst question to ask

I've chose the most non-Amigan question about the colors as it's a matter of taste - me likes blue.

Other questions can be answered easly: "maybe, in the future" or :RTFM: :p

Oh, and when it comes to Elboxes Dragon I'm afraid it's not going to be released very soon if at all - it's performance wasn't as spectacular as expected when shown for the first and only time publically in Kraków a few years ago :(

Most stupid question is porting OS4 to x86, since there is already some fashions of WB "emulators and even complete OSes for x86.

BTW: you forgot in the annoying questions the port of OS4 to Mac Mini...

Re: Red vs. Blue

By this I meant the raging "red vs blue wars" that happily mostly has faded away by now. I thought that "red vs blue" was a common Amiga euphemism.

Re: Java & JavaScript.

They have very little in common. They are almost only familiar in name. Actually, not having the time to look this up Netscape branded Emacs script as JavaScrpit to boost it's image when they incorporated it in their browser back in the end of the paper age.

Re: The bogdown of the internet.
JavaScript (JS) is today commonly used to give websites ajax functionality. Ajax meaning that the websites behaves as closely as possible "normal" desktop behaviour, or if you like another buzz word: Rich user experience.

Previously such experiences were created using Java Applets, Flash contents or just simply reloading the entire page with some minute details changed on the page to reflect the users selection.

As I hope you can read from my writings, I do not blame JS for the bog down of the internet.

And I know that there have been written many papers and articles on the matter. Both scientific and tabloid, and not having read any of them - as a Northern Norwegian it certainly doesn't stop me from having an opinion on the matter!

Personally I believe that the bogdown of the Internet is due to democracy and the free market. That government hasn't regulated it to only be us, the elite nerds, who can access and afford broadband. Every Tom, Dick and Harry can now expose themselves on MSN to eachother, and they can google for stuff that doesn't really interests us, who were here from the beginning. Thus usefull and entertaining services such as youtube has surfaced, and the ever more usefull reality tv show internet broadcasts of the BigBrother shower scenes where you can enjoy the wet plastic tits of your favourite attention seeking fake blonde. (My sincere apologies to any real blondes out there!)

So from this you should take that my honest and true beliefs are that celebrity sleaze and videos of smoking dogs, entertainment in form of video in high definition with surround sound will bring down the net. I originally thought that porn would bring down the internet. But as nerds really do like their porn, and the internet was originally invented for the efficient distribution of porn, the nerds have persevered by inventing peer-to-peer networking to speediate and ensure the robust distribution of their wet dreams.

Re: OS4 for the MacMini
DOH! I knew there were some options I had forgotten. Like PCI-E and "Who will win the court case". But that one almost hurt too much to have left out!!

Well... More zealot mods on other boards would certainly brand this entire post as off topic or trolling. But I truely enjoyed writing it, and I hope some of you actually read through it, and enjoyed it too.

My vaccation is entering it's final week. I've started browsing both AmiBay, and the other Bay more frequently. So do prepare for the return of the Viking Ranter. Hmm... I saw a name change topic was opened by the staff.. perhaps a poll on the matter? No! :)

Live long and prosper!

Oh, that...

Forgot about that one as I want to stay as far away as I could from the nut house, and actually I'm interested in all classic & modern platforms available (in a way ;))

Plenty of red vs. blue wars here in Poland, thank god you guys can't read Polish, lol

Why is OS4 on x86 a stupid question?

PowerPC is a dead platform. Apple were smart enough to realise it.

To really thrive it needs to be ported to x86 and/or ARM.

You and I might agree that OS4.x on x86 isn't a stupid question. But since Hyperion has repeatedly stated that x86 is not smart for them, it's stupid to spend a lot of energy arguing it between ourselves (the community). Energy would better be directed at making Chris Hodges smile more.

Also, it seems that certain individuals at amigaworld.net is trying to stirr up the Red Blue thing again, and another thread on amiga.org is whipping up a frenzy over the price of a sam...

And that is the thing. Only A.org and amigaworld.net have been the only two troll camps involved with this whole Red vs Blue thing. The rest of the Amiga community have just ignored it all and gone along happily enjoying the Amiga platform in all its forms. Classic and PPC.

You and I might agree that OS4.x on x86 isn't a stupid question. But since Hyperion has repeatedly stated that x86 is not smart for them, it's stupid to spend a lot of energy arguing it between ourselves (the community).

The only reason they want to stick with PPC is to control their marketplace. PPC systems being so rare really restricts their marketplace to those who can afford the extortionate prices for what are by today's terms very slow out of date hardware.

If they developed OS4 for x86 then they would completely lose their hold on their OS as piracy of it would be guaranteed to be rife. The other problem is that suddenly they would give the OS access to current hardware technology and I'm not sure they would be able to keep up with it. Look at the amount of time it took them to get PS4 completed, and that was on what is pretty much a fixed hardware platform where they can easily predict the computations of hardware configuration that the OS can expect to find. This would not be easy on x86 and I think the weakness of their development team would quickly be seen.

And who cares, we have AROS, which is suddenly now really looking like it could end up being something special.

Now the java stupid question has an answer.

OS4 will get it when the version after 4.1.1 is done, possably 4.2

Also, it would seem that we need a thread "the most stupid assertions about amiga os" is needed, as Hyperion might bring all SMP nay sayers to shame?

A new faux pas question however seems to be:

"What is the most ambitious project", recently temps ran high on a site when a member demanded info from Hyperion quite vocally. And I myself asked myself that question on this very forum this evening on the settlement thread...

Harrison, what happens if I add options and remove others on VB, is it even possible?

On phpbb it reset the poll...

Faux-pas questions? How about:

"How much is my Cyberstorm PPC worth?"

And the stupid question about Firefox has an answer too. Call me Timberwolf, and we are waiting for an alpha release this Christmas.

I think that you have to postpone your thoughts about a SAM board, as rumours say that the next year a new hardware will be available for AmigaOS 4.x. Who knows...

I chose blue cause, like Shoonay, I was thinking colors. Blue's definitely the best. :) I don't know what the real hubbub is about it.

Take care,
