Not sure about head cleaning, but there's 2 other things might need attention.
1) There's about 3-4 (I think) small electrolytic caps that might well need changing. Easy job, as they're through-hole mounted.
2) There's a plastic "skewer£ type thing that drives the head block in/out - its meant to have grease on it .... often the grease dries out and needs removing with alcohol etc and replacing.
