Today my HD caught fire...

So I find myself in the market for a new drive. I am also pursuing options at the "other bay."

I´m in Oslo Norway. And I think about £10 is the right price?

Re: WTB: 68pin SCSI drive about 10gb

I have a 9.1GB 10Krpm U2Wide SCSI Cheeta 3.5ns Seek, include an 80 SKA to 68 SKA Interface, (has all the jumpers for term / id and motor etc..)

very fast drive, (a little noisy ;) )

say £15 including postage to Oslo Norway?

I guess you mean £15 + Shipping?

Or is it HD + shipping = £15?

Excatly... And I was quite tempted to leave the power on and see how much white smoke and crackling noices I could get out of my pure OS3.9 install... But reason got the better of me, and I didn't as I feared risking the new ppc puppy I just had installed ;)

It arrived safely yesterday, very well packaged :)

I picked it up today, but I must say. I have no clue how to set the scsi-id on this little puppy :-D

Re: WTB: 68pin SCSI drive about 10gb

@Arnljot

Great I am glad it got there safely !!!

Its a little tricky using the SKA80 - 68 interface, the Pins are

  • 1. ID0[/*:m:1xqn9ir9]
  • 2. ID1[/*:m:1xqn9ir9]
  • 3. ID2[/*:m:1xqn9ir9]
  • 4. ID3[/*:m:1xqn9ir9]

so with 1 and 2 you have position 5, 1, 2 and 3 you have position 6, with 1, 2, 3, and 4 you have position 7.

this if memory serves LOL, i will have to have a lookie at the raid array in the storage to see how their setup

the adapter also provides (although i have not found an overall use of it) the Motor ON, Delay, Cable Sync and LED :D

anyway if you have ANY problems please let me know and I will help you sort it out...

Ooo BTW, i think there is a way you can by-pass/supersede the card SCSI ID setup by populating the underside pin array on the drive :)

Re: WTB: 68pin SCSI drive about 10gb

That sounds a bit complicated:)

Perhaps they are "binary". Meaning that they are 1, 2, 4 and 8. And that I set them just like bits in a byte:)

I will try when I get home. First I will finish my beer. My sushi was good:)

The drive I got from Zetr0 works just dandy.

So please close this thread :-D

Sorry about the late reply, lol. But I think the beer had something to do with it.
