£15.95 for overseas, postage included, right?
also are they compatible with slims?
asking before expressing my interest. ;)

Hi my reply seemed to disappear :)

The postage is included mate, and they work on all ps2 models (fat and slim) although there are problems with the very latest versions of the PS2 when they changed the bios, model numbers scph 9xxxx with a date code of 8c and above - if it hasnt got that written on the back of your ps2 it will work.

the best place to check compatability is here: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f153/sc...compatibility-consolidated-information-63103/

Hello mate, I provide a disc with the cards, that include momento (to patch the iso's if needed although most are patched if you download them) with instructions. and also imgburn (disc burning software) it's all very easy but I didnt mention it as I thought I was'nt allowed to discuss how to burn back ups or copies on the forum itself.

Hi, do you know if these can help me trick my PS2 into using VGA compatible screens?

I'm trying to get it to display on a CRT monitor that has component in and sync on green but none of the games I have support the triangle on boot thing to use 480p.

Did you set the ps2 to component?

I think so, system configuration->component set to RGB right?

I never owned a PS2 until last week

No, set to component :) RGB is 4 wires (RGB+Sync) @ 15hz, which your monitor probably can't sync to.

er . . . I'm confused, the setting is called "component video out" and the options are "Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr" or "RGB"

I thought these were colour schemes with VGA monitors using RGB and sync embedded in the green of the RGB in the case of the PS2.

Sorrying about cluttering a sales thread with this.

"Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr" is Component (3 wires), which has Sync on the green wire. RGB has separate sync on composite.

I'm sure a mod will be along to clean it up

The monitor inputs are labeled R, G(sync), B, Hsync, and Vsync on BNC. Anyway at the moment neither setting on the PS2 works.

On RGB the display occasionaly goes a bit haywire for a second and briefly reports a 100kHz horizontal frequency and no vertical sync. On the Y Cb . . setting, it displays nothing, reports no horizontal freq and varies between reporting nothing, 50Hz, 75Hz or 120Hz vertical.

The question remains though, can these mcboot cards do the trick for games which don't register the triangle on startup thing? For certain the main problem at the moment is the monitor can't sync to 15khz.

No it can't. Forcing the games to progressive won't help your connectivity issue. I'm curious what cable you are using to connect to your monitor?

PS2 to 5 x RCA cable, (RGB + audio), then 3 RCA to BNC adaptors. Maybe this was a stupid thing to try? It was cheaper than a PS2 to VGA cable.

From what I've read elsewhere, a VGA monitor that supports sync on green will display stuff in progressive mode. Programs such as PS2 linux and tekken4 which specifically support it and others via trickery involving chip mods and VGA bootdiscs. That's what I was initially wondering about these mcboot cards.

5 x RCA cables isn't RGB + audio, it's Component + audio - even though the wires are Red, Green and Blue, so in any case you have to set it to "Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr".

If your monitor will only display a progressive signal, then look into GSM, which you can run via McBoot.

Right but what is it when you select RGB mode? Whatever it is I can't at the moment get it off 15Khz. Thanks for the link, that thread looks like it has the information. I'll take my time to digest it. If Mcboot plus GSM seems like the solution I may even be back to declare interest:oops:

RGB mode is for RGB+sync, usually going through scart. Best connection for SD CRTs and for non-progressive signals to HD tv's/scalers as well.

I've asked a mod to split the thread :)
