I seem to have some unavoidable compulsion to buy these laptops, put them to one side for several months unused and then decided to get rid - here's another...

The laptop is used and so has the usual wear and tear you would expect from a used laptop. There are some scuffs and scrapes to the lid, and also to the palmrest.

The screen has a couple of bright 'blotches' when viewed from a normal seated position, and a few others are noticeable from angles to the side of the screen, at about 45 degrees. These are not too noticeable under normal usage, and they don't really show up on the pictures.

This laptop has also had a replacement power jack and board fitted, as the old one had completely melted, which resulted in some melting of the outer case. Please see picture for further detail. A replacement keyboard was also fitted recently, as the original failed.

As a result of the melting power socket, the connector on the adaptor plug was also destroyed. I have cut the damaged one of and re-wired this to a new plug and it works fine. There is also a piece of insulting tape wrapped around the cable halfway between the transformer and the adaptor plug. There doesn't seem to be a break in the cable, but I have left it there.

The laptop is supplied with 2GB of RAM installed, which is the maximum supported for a Fujitsu-Siemens BIOS. This can be upgraded to an Alienware BIOS to allow 4GB of RAM to be installed, and also provide options for upgrading the standard MXM graphics card. Please ask for further details.

The laptop is supplied with only a charger. NO discs, documentation or manuals are supplied.

The battery is pretty much dead, and holds a very limited charge, no more than a minute or so, so if you want to go mobile, this will need to be replaced.

This is perfect for browsing the net or doing office based tasks. Also quite happy to run iPlayer. It can cope with some games, and if the graphics card is upgraded, has the potential to run some more modern titles.

If only i lived in the UK... i would buy this as a backup for mine.
These machines are build to last and spares are cheap.
Mine has been dismantled many times and still feels very sturdy.
It handles the latest fancy linux distros and Win7 with ease and runs pretty smooth on the usual emulators.
Xbmc runs flawless and the wifi is better than most new mobile devices i played with.
80 bucks is a steal imho.

Good luck with the sale !

Thanks demusse

Just to expand on what was said, if someone wants to take this machine away, it runs Win 7 happily. I can, for cost of parts only, add 2x2GB sticks for 4GB RAM (and make the change to an AW BIOS), upgrade the CPU to a T7200, upgrade the graphics card and add a Blu-ray drive.

I had one of these a couple of years ago as my personal machine, running win 7, 4GB RAM and with an HD3650 graphics card. Partly why I may keep it if it's still here come the weekend

Well, this is clearly not going to sell on here, so I'm going to keep it and have some upgrading fun with it:lol:

Could a passing mod please close
