I plan on doing a small run of two sided PCBs based on Reiner Ziegler's Reader. I have redesigned the board in EagleCAD as a mostly SMT populated board, though some components have either option! I do not plan on supplying full kits, so part ordering will be up to you.

Piracy is bad, yadda-yadda, you may backups save files and ROMs for emulation if you wish.

If you wish to throw some money into the pool and have a board sent your way, email me below or PM me:
Apple2ja*Cmich*edu (dots instead of asterisks).

Here are some pics, dimensions and a 3D render:

Some notes about the boards, I have decided to add vias if people want to use through-hole components rather than SMT components. This does not include the ICs because these components are too large to fit within my strict board limitations. The photos show no through-hole resistors, but I am adding them shortly.

Lets try not to add both version of said components, k? If you choose to use a ceramic resonator rather than an ordinary crystal oscillator, be sure to ignore the cap locations. If you choose to place an crystal oscillator, be sure to check the data sheet as to the capacitance of caps you will need.

Also note that the ICSP connector must be on the bottom of the board. After programming the Atmega8515, you may remove the ICSP connector since there will probably never be any updates.

I was also able to accommodate the board with the DMG-01 or pocket cartridge connector so it doesn't matter where you get it from!

Reiner Ziegler's site is here:
http://www.reinerziegler.de/readplus.htm

Because Mr. Ziegler released this for public use and not for profit, we will all be getting some cheap boards! If I include shipping, One board shipped First class will run you and I:

Within the US (lower 48 ):
18.90 USD
International:
(idk yet. The online price quotes me something ridiculous!)

ALSO NOTE: That we must order board in multiples of ten! If ten people do not order a board, everyone gets reimbursed. if 12 people order board, the last two get reimbursed. Very sorry, but that is how it will work.

EDIT: I am up to 6 people ordering boards, so that only leave 4 more until I can print some. I plan on waiting a little longer though.

Jazzmarazz: 1 board (paid)

Offsite buyers:
Bitman: 1 board (unpaid)
Katsumbhong: 1 board (unpaid)
DCS: 2 pre-soldered boards (unpaid)
Kineticturtle: 1 pre-soldered board (unpaid)
AlleyBeach: 1 board (unpaid)
Kitsch: 2 boards (unpaid)

Also note that I have made a few alterations to the board as per many requests. I have since added through-hole resistor options and will be offering a board with the FTDI and Atmel8515 pre-soldered for an extra 15USD.

I realize few people on this forum are interested in this board, but I feel obligated to update anyhow.

I have set the cut-off date to be Monday the 19th. Several people have sent me money already and we are currently up to 10 boards. In the mean time, I have updated the board with a few future-pending options. The board will be upgradeable to be used with an Atmega162 and will eventually be able to interface with a newer software (to be announced). The changes were simply to add different interrupt options, FTDI clock and the option to program the atmega via FTDI rather than JUST ICSP.

The updated options are as follows:

Within the US (lower 48 : )

Board only = $18.90 (shipped)
Board w/ Atmega & FTDI pre-soldered = $33.90 (shipped)
Full kit unsoldered = $39.29 (shipped)
Full kit presoldered ICs only= $45.29 (shipped)
Complete and ready to go = $ 49.29 (shipped)

International:
Add 23.95USD to any of the above options.

Cheers all :coffee:

well, no one from here bought one but thats OK!
I just received the boards from iTead Studios and they are fantastic! The drills are accurate, the silkscreen is exactly as I had designed it and the solder mask is superb. My only complaint is that I chose to go "open source" and receive two free boards from people who chose the same option. The two free boards I got are one square inch each...and I bought the 100mmx100mm board option.

In any case, I WILL be buying from them again even though it takes nearly 24 days to get the goods.

It is not very clear what the capabilities of this unit is. How it is operated, featured, requirements, downsides etc.

My apologies, though I did link a link in the OP. ;)

In any case, these boards connect to a PC via USB and give the user the options to backup save files from official cartridges (and ROMs). But more importantly, they allow for the programming of home-made cartridges with homebrew software for gameboy!

These boards can be used as dev boards for programmers wanting to test their software on actual hardware.

Quick Edit:

ITs fine that no one here asked for one, the board has some what of a different audience than Amibay. HOWEVER, I have been working on an SD2AppleII interface which is finished, just needs to be printed. I am also working on an AppleII keyboard PS/2 adapter and a PLD based Atari 2600 cartridge that allows a nonvolatile saving feature. Maybe someone will be interested in these.
